I recently made a 90's and 2000's Best Movie thread, so I had to make a 70's one in accordance. What do you think is the best movie of the 70's and 80's? Runner Ups: Back to the Future The Terminator Jaws E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Alien Star Wars: Episode V Monty Python and the Holy Grail
All serious movies. Seriously, why isn't Back to the Future up there? The only trilogy that got all three movies right IMO. I haven't watched most of those yet. Monty Python and the Holy Grail was freakin' brilliant, that should've made the cut for sure. Oh, and Amadeus? Fantastic. One of my favorite movies. Reading A Clockwork Orange at the moment, but the slang is really throwing me off.
for me, definitely Beetle Juice followed by Back to the Future. although it's from the 60's I have to mention - Cool Hand Luke - watched it recently in HD, and it still stands the test of time better than movies released in the last decade.
- The Goonies - Real Genius - Howard The Duck - Beetle Juice - Back To The Future Trilogy - Rambo 1 & 2 - Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom - The Wizard Just some off the top of my head. Ah, childhood memories....
Again, two decades is a ridiculously long time span to pick a single movie from. One decade is hard enough alreadu But I choose Cheech and Chong: Nice Dreams. Not much between that and that first two though.
Do you prefer the original cut (with dialog) or the directors cut (without). I probably lean towards the directors cut. Mine (in no order) are: 1 Napoleon Dynamite (just because he reminds me of someone) 2 Raising Arizona (and all Cohen Bros. movies) 3 Brazil (Gilliam rocks) 4 Blade Runner 5 Papillon 6 The Great Escape 7 Cool Hand Luke 8 Awakenings (all Robin's movies) 9 The Life Aquatic 10 Leon: The Professional 11 The Fifth Element 12 Rushmore
Thought "Once Upon A Time In America" deserved a mention. Many great movies during that span. Oh, can't forget "Scarface".
