After three years, I finally got a new phone. Whoopee! I'm super excited. It's a 6s (regular) and it's also the first time I've had iOS north of 6.0 (yes, for real). So, finally I can download 'modern' games. So! I'm looking for some suggestions for visually or technically amazing games that I can finally run that will show off this slick lil piece of hardware. I downloaded both the "recent" Warhammer games, and Radiation Island (which is very nice-looking), but what else should I get? I tend to like slower, more strategic or exploratory games, but I'm open to anything. Whatcha think??? Thanks!!
Mods, feel free to merge this with the master thread if need be. I wasn't sure if it merited a separate discussion or not (considering it's specific to the latest hardward and games that are visually demanding and appealing) Sorry if it shouldn't be its own thing!
I'm sure the thread is fine, I haven't seen a thread similar to this before. Anyways; here's some games that are demanding in several different ways Disney Toy Box: Very demanding on the GPU Octodad: Very hard on the GPU Implosion: Never lose hope Modern Combat 5 Blackout Order & Chaos 2 Asphalt 8; despite its age is still graphically intensive AG drive, Breakneck & Race the Sun Dead Effect 2 After pulse Tales from the borderlands Infinity blade 3 still holds up Shadowmatic & the room 3 are gorgeous puzzlers Forgotten Memories & Lost within are great horror with impressive visuals Radiation Island is a fantastic open world game With breathtaking visuals NBA 2K16 also is great with Real Time shadows Brothers in Arms 3 is also good; if a little repetitive Hellraid: the escape also features great visuals Heroes Reborn is a beautiful 3D portal like game Battle supremacy evolution is a great vehicular combat game
Awesome, thanks for the list! A lot of those games are ones I've had my eye on. Excited to check them out. Any that you think are particularly good games—the kind that will never leave your device?
Go to a quiet road with a couple of models and start playing catch with your iPhone 6s. Whoever drops it is the loser! This game will eventually break your iPhone 6s.
Demon's Rise (thread here) is pretty graphics heavy. As the current version still has a few problems, if you want to not only test but play I recommend to wait for the next update which should be coming in a bit. Nimian Legends:Brightridge (thread) is already really pushing things in the current version; just crank up the graphics settings all the way. Robert, the developer, announced an HD update aimed for before Xmas. By the way, you wrote that you like exploratory games. NL should be right down your alley, cannot recommend and praise it enough Just for fun, give the Epic Techdemo for Metal "Zen Garden" a try: I posted some info here http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=3350929&post3350929 , including the Appstore links to the old Citadel demo and Zen Garden. Seconding Implosion; nice graphics there, and a good action game to boot. For slower/strategic, I can also recommend BatteLore:Command. Very good tactics game, iOS version of a tabletop wargame. Oh, and I forgot Transistor, great game and the best voice acting I know of on iOS, together with their earlier game Bastion. Grab both if you don't have them yet.
Games I would recommend are as follow Implosion: Never Lose Hope ($9.99) A hothouse hack and slash action sci fi adventure The Room 3 ($4.99) Shadowmatic ($2.99) Both are very unique in their own respects If you're into first person shooters than Modern Combat 5 (Free) is the go to for multiplayer FPS. Smash Hit ($1.99) is fairly addictive glass breaking game, fantastic graphics & intuitive touch gameplay. Finally just because it's been on my device since release: Doug dug ($1.99) lacks precise sharp visuals but makes up for it with a fantastic 2 dimensional art style, rewarding gameplay & a sense of exploration while descending the mines
This is a great list of HD games - i need to look into these I just wanted to mention about Nimian Legends BrightRidge that Nullzone kindly mentioned above. The current version on the appstore has a bug where some trees wil flicker blue. But if you want to still try it, yes pump up the options and as I type this a fix is being uploaded to the App store, so that will be available soon. (Edit: the fix is in review - here is a screenshot on iPhone6): And just to let you know I also have a HD update called Nimian Legends BrightRidge HD that i am aiming to release for the holidays. It has a LOT more detail and graphic options that really take advantage of new devices. I looks great on the iPhone 6 and I'd be really interested to see how much higher you can set the options on an iPhone 6s. Here's a screenshot of the upcoming HD version on iPhone6: I hope you'll check it out when its ready. In the meantime i hope you get some great ideas from these posts and find some games worthy of pushing your phone
Whoa, that looks phenomenal. I'll definitely get it! When the HD version drops, I'll report back here. Thanks! And thanks NullZone and jgeirge for your thoughts and recommendations. Lots of great stuff to look forward to, it seems!
Whoa, cool, thanks! Just downloaded. Btw, a friend suggested Heroes and Castles 2, and I think it was a good suggestion. Great-looking (and ridiculously fun) game
@deadclown: Just in case you are still watching this space: Brightridge HD is out. Go forth and enjoy
Great games, but Im pretty sure the original poster was looking for the most hardware-intensive game to limber up his shiny new device.
Yeah allright, but I never like those hardware intensive games, mostly that is good looks poor gameplay.
Just an update for anyone looking for pretty, hardware intensive games. I just released version 2 of BrightRidge HD https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nimian-legends-brightridge/id1021026309?ls=1&mt=8 NEW First person view option (thank you Gingerpanderbearfreakguy) More detailed terrain with realistic erosion and undulation Interactive Map Orange Puffids - poisonous bulbous weeds can be cleared out with a hit Global fog on by default - Global fog and Distace fog density can be independently set Upgraded Road system to allow more flexible world design Forest paths Inn Architecture - the front stairwell New Alien Terrapin Tower in preparation for storyline Forest Veranda Arrow size UI option (for quests in v3) Improved combat animation - Make hit pause momentarily with Particle flash New Puddle system for more flexible puddles added terrain quality settings in options Fairy Circles Hammer for boy, wrench for girl added eagle spirit view Added FXAA3 Antialiasing in effect options Brightridge Flag New tree species - Empyrial Dashwood
I never replied to this - sorry I missed it. It's been such a long time but for anyone wondering yes BrightRidge has a new Story Mode with quests You can still choose explore mode if you want to just explore BrightRidge without any quests or interruptions.
