Yeah if you don't want to pay it's definitely the way to go. I find myself sending files quite a lot over BeeJive though, mainly games screenshots I've taken on the device. Not only that but it offers two methods, direct send or upload and link to image. I also like the extra customisation (colours/wallpapers/contact layout) that Meebo doesn't have. I'd recommend Meebo to anyone that said they were looking for a free or cheap IM app.
I tried Meebo today and loved the look of it. Very sleek and minimal. However I couldn't get it to add my AIM profile. It just kept loading. I tried twice, deleted the app and re-downloaded it, tried again and it still wouldn't work. So a little disappointment there. But it's still a really awesome looking client.
I think $6.99 for Beejive is a good price. Been using it for a while and never had an issue. Dont have a need to try anything else.
Meebo is awesome because it saves the chat logs and keeps the chats synced between the iphone app and web client. But if you don't really care about that then I say Beejive is the best for having the sleekest UI and features like SMS Out and pic sharing.
IM+ all the way. It has MSN/yahoo and that's all that matters...if only I wanted to shell out $10 for the paid version
If you are looking for a free IM client then go with meebo or aim... i prefer meebo because it has landscape mode if you want a client loaded with features then get beejive
Does anybody else use palringo? I tried IM+ and lost some messages. That was unacceptable and I've been pretty happy with Palringo Free. It has push notification and supports the different IM accounts I have. It also supports sending images to an extent.
I paid 10 bucks for Beejive and I'm using Meebo. The price can't be beaten and saving chat histories along with the web client priceless.
