Which IM client for the iPhone is the best? I personally use Beejive IM. There are other ones as well like IM+, AIM, Meebo, and others. What is YOUR favorite IM client?

I've tried Beejive, IM+, AIM free and eBuddy, and I find Beejive to be the most suited to my needs and the most reliable.

What makes Beejive so much better? Sorry if that sounds ignorant. I just use the free AIM thinking that the original is the best - but I know that is not always the case.

I'm not sure what it has over AIM specifically, but some of the things I like about it: group chats, the option to send files either directly or link to a website upload, being able to quit the app but stay signed into the account for up to 7 days, push notifications, meta contacts, supports MSN, signs into MSN faster than the real MSN client on PC does (owned), custom background image, supports personal messages/custom status.

    Where do I live?
I find Fring to be really nice. Interface is great and has all your IM providers in 1 app.

Can you compare Meebo with Beejive or IM+? Which is better?

I heard you need a Meebo account to use it, that's pretty fail.

meebo. it's msn, yahoo messenger, gchat, facebook chat, aim, myspace chat, ICQ and jabber all with puch notifications for free!

yes, you need a meebo account but it's fast and free to create

    No you don't...

Meebo is the best one available. Engadge, Gizmodo and Kotaku agree. It's got push, and multiple accounts all in one. Beejive IM+ is way too expensive, whilst there's a better, free alternative.

Guess I'll have to check it out then.

Edit: Well this seems alright. If you don't wanna pay then it's definitely better than that AIM rubbish. I can't find an option to set a display picture/avatar on MSN though, and I can't figure out how to send files.

Works well enough, looks nice enough but no customisation it seems. It doesn't have half as many options in the settings screen as BeeJive does so as nice as it is, I don't think I'll be switching.

Oh, and I did have to create a Meebo account.

imo, if you're looking for a simple chat client for the iphone and ipod touch, meeb has to be the best, purely based on the fact it has all important functions and it's free. ok, so you can send files over, but hey, its 7 dollars cheaper than beejive!

Ok, comparing the apps which are worth what they're priced, Meebo IM pwns all. It's free.
