Just about to update to 3.0 with my ipod touch first gen. Just was wondering what you guys think is the best app out there for AIM. I have the free AIM app right now and love it. Use it every single day but... is the paid version worth it or better? Also, BeeJive seems like it has a lot of positive reviews but for $10, it seems pretty high just for using AIM. I dont really use any other IM service. So, what do you have or recommend for an app that is optimized for 3.0 and is the very best for IM and AIM.

I use Beejive. I can stay one multiple services with multiple accounts on each one AND keep them logged in for 24 hours.

For just AIM you can always use the Free AIM app. It has push and landscape keyboard so it is pretty solid all around

Well, if you only use AIM might as well just get the upgraded AIM app. I use Beejive and it's filled with tons of features and options like landscape typing, background to your chat, multiple people chatting, sending texts to people, shake to switch chats, and the list goes on.

I haven't tested doc transfers but I know that pic transfers work. Doc transfers probably work also.

Ok, thanks. I will probably go with Beejive. It seems for the 10 it is worth it with all the features it includes.

Beejive is the best by far. Nothing else compares.

Thats tough to say. The whole interface on beejive is better and it also has more features, but it just depends on what you like to do. If you just do simple chats on aim only and never do anything like file transfers, etc, then I suppose the AIM app would be good enough for you. If you like to transfer files and share pics, beejive is better.

I dunno. Beejive is great and all, but IM+ seems to update more with features such as Twitter/Skype etc. Beejive's interface and support is much better, but it's not easy to compare to more functions.
Beejive is coming with group chat though, so I'm looking forward to that.

beejive right now is a bit buggy with it's push release (crashes and hangs) IM+ with it's new push service has been working much better. It's only crashed once for me while replying to a msg. IMHO IM+ is the more reliable IM release right now...although beejive have submitted bug fixes as we speak.

I really have no idea. I use an iPod Touch 1G, and I don't have Skype.
I don't think so though. There's a separate Skype app from SHAPE Services that does make calls.

With BeeJive, can you talk to anyone that is on myspace like the current site has now on the bottom or is it just the people who have downloaded the actual program for the computer.
