    Australia, mate!
I'm just looking for a simple app that allows me to zoom in and out using the iPhone 3G's camera. The zoomed in images have to be clear and not blurry.

I'm thinking of getting Camera Plus Pro. Any other options I should look at?

Just take a normal picture... zoom in with the pinch controls later and take a screenshot of the zoom (top bottom buttons together)

it's free and it's probably the same thing an app would do.

Yeah, but wouldn't the image be blurry?

    or a rebel :)

The image stored in your photos is as high res as it gets. Any zoom would make it blurry. You'd need a zoom lens to do it right. :)

I see. So no camera app is able to create a better zoom than the zoom suggested in post #3?

Also, which is the best video recording app for the iPhone? I've looked at a few on YouTube, however, all of the videos recorded using the app seems to be pretty laggy and choppy due to the low FPS.

You should definitely try Camera Plus Pro

However if you are still unsure, try out out Camera Plus first. It's the free version. If you like it, you can upgrade to Camera Plus Pro anytime. It has more Editing, Sharing and Managing options.
Check out the overview video of Camera Plus Pro:

There's your man to ask about how they handle the zoom :)
