Monster Feed and Field Runners are good ones.

Garden Mania TD is a must have for beginners. You can have a try. Plants vs. Zombies is also a good choice even though it's a strategy game but they have something in common.

i'm a beginner not only for tower defence game, but also for all games. The above two games is what i play most, cos i find i can adapt to it instead of game over almost at the beginning.

No one's even mentioned how excellent Bloons TD is. Considerably easier than a bunch of the games named here on it's lowest setting with a big, simple UI and a nice dash of chaos. Perfect place to start out, better than The Creeps I'd say.

Not so much Bloons TD 4 though, I prefer the plain ol' Bloons TD.

Was about to mention Bloons TD too. By the 5th post I was already wondering where's Bloons? Creeps is a good choice too but Bloons really grabs your attention with all the chaos going on. Like MidianGTX says it's a perfect place to start out.

My personal first TD was Fieldrunners though. Great game for me.

    Creeps for sure!
Lots of personality, simple controls, cute graphics.
My favorite tower defense game by far :)

I have bought iBomber Defense from chillingo and I did not regret that decision. Love the gameplay, balanced difficulty, graphics and sound on this game.

Otherwise, I'm anxiously waiting for "Defenders of Ardania" to come out on iPad.

One of my longtime favourites is "Tri Defense". Any of you guys have played this?

For a beginner Defense Grid would be a perfect first try. But on iOS The Creep iphone version or Monster Feed are excellent pick without to be too technical (Defense Grid or Plants vs Zombies do that a bit better in my opinion).

For iPad I would advise for a first try, Monster Feed, Lord of the Ring Middle Earth Defense, and Sentinel 3, plus obviously Plants vs Zombies. All for a first try are excellent pick.

The graphics aren't as impressive that some other and even tend to look a little cheap on an iPad. But for non beginner in TD I think it's a great pick. It's gameplay design is quite interesting. This one too has been released in Mac App Store like Sentinel 3.

wow, you said Plants vs Zombies is rather easy? can you give me tips about how to survive in the levels with zombies both in ships and tank. You know they move so fast.
sorry, what i said is not related to the thread. so here i would like to recommend garden mania to you, though maybe it's not as awesome as Creeps.

Try ZombieSmash, which is a very addicting and entertaining tower defense game with great visuals and music.

I'd say Monster Feed - an awesome action packed tower defense game in the Appstore.

Plants vs. Zombies is also my favorite! It's easy in the beginning but it takes a few games to master it, but it has a very well balanced learning curve.

I love the new spoiler tag! If you mean the zomboni, then use squashes and jalapenos to get rid of them. Jalapenos also get rid of the ice trail which otherwise would get left behind, preventing the Zombie Bobsled Team from appearing. Squashes can be planted in advance and are a nice safety measure. Don't forget about the Cherry Bombs either, but I like them a little bit less for this.

Spikeweeds pop tires and can be nice too. They also prevent the ice trail and with that prevent the Zombie Bobsled Team from appearing when planted on the first row.

Yes, its too easy and would be great if there was a higher difficulty level as an option, but somehow still loads of fun. That doesnt mean a smart adult cant fail a few levels, I certainly failed a couple on the first play through and I am experienced with this kind of game. Almost everyone will fail the last level the first time, for example. But overall, if you read the almanac and think about why you failed a level, you should be able to get it the next time.
