Hi guys, I am after some advice and it may be aimed mainly at any web developers out there. I develop both mobile and web apps but get a bit stuck when it comes to marketing an application. I recently developed a tool aimed at developers http://www.brightlightapp.com (its bugg & issue tracking). I have tried a few marketing ideas including Twitter to spread the word but I think many people just ignore tweets, I have also looked at using sites like Pattern Tap to showcase the design. I have even included a free package to give people the opportunity of trying the application . Problem is at the minute it isn't a problem with user conversion, instead its actually getting the name of the app out there. If you do a bit of research you tend to find that some of the ideas for marketing are quite old. Here is a list of ideas I have come up with so far, i think some of these ideas may apply to both mobile and web applications. If anyone could add to them it would be great.
