Yes, you can upload a CSV file. As long as it has a header row that defines the field names. Tap Forms will also create all the fields for you during the import process. The only thing you have to do is create the initial form by giving it a name and picking an icon. The import process will create all the fields. They will be text fields by default, but if you put a field type in your header row next to the field name (e.g. Movie Name<text>,Release Date<date>) then it will also assign the types before importing. That way you can make sure the field types are correct before the import starts. If you predefine your fields in Tap Forms it will also use the header row to match up with the field names in your form. There's instructions for the importing right inside the app. Thanks,
I'm not really familiar with those apps, but you can watch my two screencasts and see the screenshots on my website and decide for yourself if it meets your needs. I'm not planning a major price drop in the near future as sales have been going pretty good at $8.99. But you never know. I think it has very good value at this price point. I have tried a couple of lower prices in the past, but sales were still fairly steady at those lower prices with only a minor spike when I had it at $6.99. There was no difference in sales at $7.99. The only issue is visibility. If people know about it then they will buy it. I'm still crossing my fingers every Tuesday to see if the App Store features Tap Forms in any kind of way. That would be awesome!
If you have those in a CSV file format then yes, it would import them. I don't do any direct integration with those other services. But I do integrate with the Contacts app on the iPhone/iPod touch. One of the field types is Contact which you can add to any form. Tap Forms will then present your list of contacts that you can select from. This makes it easy to add lots of extra data to any of your contact records. You use Tap Forms to view the extra data you've added to your contacts. The next version will also allow for file attachments when emailing a record. So if you took a photo and added an audio note, those would go along as attachments with the rest of the fields from your record into the email. Thanks,
Thanks brendand for your reply, already read your email just now. BTW I'm interested to translate this app to Simplied Chinese.
Just tried out iDB Database (Free) and I like the user interface. However it DOES NOT support landscape mode and you can't create custom fields, which is a NO-NO for me.
I've considered a lite version of Tap Forms, but I've read so many stories of the lite versions either not helping at all or cannibalizing sales of the full version. Perhaps that was just for games. Not sure how it affects a Business or Productivity app. Does anyone have any insights into that? Thanks,
Thanks for this thread. I'm very keen on TapForms, alot more flexibility than iDB free. I also tried the iCatchAll. LOVE how the Flashlight can change colours! There's alot of utility in that. Should have been called Toolbox instead, haha. My own contributions as a user: HiCalc can perform several functions like: Arithmetic Unit conversion Currency conversion Finance Statistics etc There's a lite version and the full is currently on sale at $0.99. I also use SmartTime Plus for task mgmt and scheduling. It syncs with gCal now and via Calgoo Connect, to iCal too. I don't have it, but MobileFiles Pro allows document editing as well as remote viewing of filed on MobileMe iDisk. It's interesting but costs ten bucks.
I've been using Tapforms for a while now and find it to be a full featured, stable and very useful application. As for the price, it's been well worth it. (I'd prefer to pay 8.99 for an applicaiton like Tapforms that is well supported and being updated/improved on a regular basis, than to pay $2, 3, 4 bucks for something that's here today and gone tomorrow.) In my usage, Tapforms hasn't crashed once. I haven't fully explored all the applicaiton can do, but I love that there's more to explore in future. Support developers who produce quality products (else you'll get nothing but fart, "days until", "locate me this one thing" crap! my .02, Regards, Rich
