100% agreed. 1. "...gamers...pretending everything is fine..." 2. "...We will indeed end up with exactly the App Store we deserve." Why does it seem many gamers out there still don't put 1 and 2 together, acting like the poison we're fed is still food because we're willing to eat it? I don't bite, and whomever does needs to stop it. Just stop it, okay? I wonder if it's true: Humanity is being commercially trained not to think deeply OR think for themselves. Stop it.
Bejeweled predates ios I'm pretty sure. This whole digital BS is truly souring me against digital purchases in general. I'm surprised every app, when it loses visibility (WHICH HAPPENS TO EVERY APP) doesn't have ads inserted. Probably will. BS.
I found a few games are like that... I believe it's something in the .plist or save files somewhere. Once you removed the game for whatever reason it is no longer a "paid" game... if its already on your device there is something in there that prevents the ads from showing. With that said, new installs will become freemium - sucks I know - happened to me.
Geez I wish people could just stop being so presumptious. I was merely trying to make the situation less dramatic and more informative. Yes, you did said you're an early adopter, but you didn't make it clear whether you kept the app all that time or you just reinstalled it recently. So to avoid being presumptious myself, I have to exclude your post. I was pretty sad seeing this as well, you missed not one but two posts of mine expressing how I thought EA might have driven Popcap to this decision. Tch, this leaves a bad aftertaste. No more Mr. Nice guy from now on, try to help only to be taken as a "zealous freemium supporter."
EA release more games versus adding ads, get to work! All I can say is EA has ruined PopCap. Just plain greed for adding ads to a paid game versus releasing more games. EA wasn't happy enough by adding IAP to there own games. There is only one way to stop this, do not buy anymore games from them. Unfortunately I own them all, do not make the same mistake Looks like EA is trying to get their $750 million back without doing real work. How about actually releasing more games from the PopCap library???
Simply an outstanding response!! Can't even add to your above comments. Well said. But maybe ur 2 creative to have. A voice?
When EA was small, they were so awesome. You could see the GREEDY Greasy grubs clearly, when they started making yearly madden updates, sporting new players authentic shoelaces. They beyond suck today
I'm still going to buy more serious games on iOS, but all of the bait and switch like this is a big part of why I bought myself a ps3 for Christmas. I just want a game I buy to stay what it is and if they update to fix bugs then that's all there is to the update. Eventually I could see getting a vita for all the free games through ps+ and cross buy. Heck I bought a second ps3 for the kids since digital purchases will install on upto 2 consoles. Seems like a good deal and it keeps us away from most of the bs ruining iOS gaming. I'm getting sick to of the ios7 only options when iOS 7 can cripple my iPhone for premium big games. Seems not worth the update yet tiny games with little requirements are pushing iOS 7. The constant need to upgrade reminds me of PC gaming in the late 90's and why I stopped. Rant over, just had to get that out. Bejeweled going freemium just further ensures iOS can't remain my main form of gaming.
Given that there's only one PopCap co-founder left at PopCap and given the large number of layoffs at the studio, does anyone expect it to be any different? The games are EA now, and EA is squeezing and branding the heck out of 'em now.
