I loved the first Beholder game, but the time limits on getting stuff done ended up being super daunting and I never got around to finishing it. While this has given me the motivation to redownload the original (and check out the DLC), which I’ll get around to doing once the download’s done, apparently things are very different this time around and it’s NOT just a rehash of the first game, just without a timer. Exciting stuff! Maybe it was the timer. I really like dystopian surveillance games such as Papers Please and Orwell (on PC). This one seems to have some similar beats. Edit: played for a couple of hours. So far mostly good. There’s a lot of fetch questing going on but it’s driving a story at least. I like the form processing stuff, though it’s a little basic compared to some other similar games. Main difference between low and high graphics appears to be battery life. Game defaults to low and I put it back there once my XS Max started getting hot. I don’t see any difference to speak of flipping back and forth. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #4 Quoad, Jul 17, 2019 Total shut up and take my money release. I didn’t get much chance to take this for a spin after it downloaded because my phone desperately needed a charge and to be honest, I don’t dare try it out now knowing I don’t have access to a charger for at least another 10 to 12 hours. :/ EDIT: On low I find my device isn’t heating up and the battery life is quite respectable. Not bad at all. geoelectric Well-Known Member Apr 22, 2010 464 22 18 San Jose, CA #6 geoelectric, Jul 18, 2019 Yeah, on low it’s been just fine. On high it turned my phone into a little heater and I’m pretty sure it chewed a bunch of battery. I played about an hour on each though, and honestly didn’t note any differences. malaheart Well-Known Member Jun 18, 2010 221 11 18 Male Angel Melbourne, Australia #7 malaheart, Jul 18, 2019 Skall Well-Known Member Oct 25, 2009 500 60 28 #8 Skall, Jul 18, 2019 Is it mfi compatible? metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #9 metalcasket, Jul 19, 2019 I suspect the updates hitting the App Store for this aren’t delta. Would you recommend it? macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #13 macplash, Apr 21, 2020 @ste86uk I would recommend the first one. It’s 2D, it’s side view, but the creepy dystopian atmosphere is much better. I like the game mechanics more than in the sequel. And these games are on discount constantly. I wouldn’t hurry if you got enough to play. Just wait for these to reach their minimum price if you wanna save a few bucks. The first one is easily worth its asking price though. Plus I liked the sound of it compared to how time works in the first game this one sounds more structured which is good for me and will be easier to manage my time. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #15 macplash, Apr 21, 2020 @ste86uk I mean, you could go with either, don’t get me wrong. I just liked the first one more. Whenever you get a chance to grab the first one for cheap, just do it. Doesn’t matter if you’re already playing a sequel. After all, the first one has 10 times more 5 star reviews on the App Store than the second. (1200 vs 130), so it means something, I guess. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #16 ste86uk, Apr 21, 2020 Last edited: Apr 21, 2020 @macplash just 268 ratings on my store compared to 62 for the second one. The U.K store always seems pathetic for anything paid it’s just the free crap that’s not even really a game that gets all the reviews. The first one is up for 2.99 I’ll check the price thing after work. Edit: set a reminder for it as it’s been cheaper and I didn’t just get the second. Last night alone I purchased Bad North, Beholder 2, Undead Horde and To the moon. macplash likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #17 macplash, Apr 21, 2020 @ste86uk yeah, I have all of those. Didn’t play the Bad North yet. I love To the Moon - it’s such a compelling game, quite emotional. Whenever you have a chance, just go for it. It’ll be a ride. Btw, there were other great adventures on sale lately if you’re into the genre. Whispers of a machine or Kathy Rain. I bought TheoTown for 2 bucks, lol. I’m not too much into the deep management - I actually prefer more casual Pocket City - but for 2 buck, what the hell, right?
