I was thinking if I should become a developer, but I have no clue what I would have to do first or anything. I don't even know how to become a developer? Does any one have a clue ?
Register yourself at apple as a developer, then download Xcode to develop apps and when you are ready buy the full developer account for $99/year and start distributing them.
I've heard of that 99$ a month if I'm not mistaken. I'm already planning my first game with some sketches and drawings but how hard is it making a game with 1 man ? Oh yeah what should I call my company ? Please choose. A. Make you happy inc. B. chibi cute games. C. Hambo inc. D. For the future games If you have better ones please do tell.
Thanks I like it too, apple does let you make the name yourself right? Like beaver tap games dev of mikey shorts ?
Hahah slow down a little mate , I haven't even decided if I should be a developer , but If I should, what kind of game would you like to see? Puzzle, racing rpg?
work in progress So here's what I came up with ..... MAKE YOU HAPPY INC. Slogan: It's where the happy games are A one man studio: Henry Kim (Hambo) Yup my goal is to become a game developer making games to make people happy. If this works out. I PROMISE all games I make will NEVER HAVE IAP. Promise to make the best and unique games with things that's never been done before. Quality over Quanity, the games I make will be worth it. Genre: Games I plan to make are. Puzzle games: will have features that has never been done plus MULTIPLE cute characters. RPG games: I love roleplaying and I plan to make a lot of awesome RPGs , with cool features I have planned, and epic character designs. No voice acting though , maybe in the future one day lol Mini games : I like chibi cuteness so ill make games like happy street cuteness but non freemium with no IAP. I'm better at 2D art and hand drawn artwork so we will see Nice speech aye +' more I plan to work on games before I sign up at apple to become a dev, that way I can release my game first right away no time to waste
haha i myself would want to make a fps or even a ball game like (papijump) or something. and yes i myself want to develop games as well
sounds good. i myself am trying to make ideas that no one has ever tried to make. something new and original.
i wish i did i'm still trying to make up ideas in my head but hopefully they'll come along and what about you?
I have some photos of sketches of a game I plan to make , I can show you tomorrow if you want' I have a character sketch as well. In fact I have been planning this and I feel I could really make this into a game.more info in the next post.
The game/sketches I have been working on so far is doing pretty good. To explain it is... It's a action RPG. The game is called " Remeber Me " It's a love story about a boy and a girl who starts of hating each other but ends up loving each other and get married Hhaha not a lot of games have love story's so I wanted to make one that does. The boys name is 17 year old NHI SERAH he is an assassin, and the girl is 16 year old HAI SUMINOE, a female swords mans. I'll post photos up tomorrow, features haha : hand drawn art work. Max level 100 Over 50 skills plus a new feature I thought off that mixing together 2 skills to make a new more powerful skill. Over 20 skill mixes find them all. 2D gameplay with a 360 dpad. Over 200 items and gear to wear. 19 villages, 4 dungeons, 1 castle. Party system with another feature double team Go advanced with skill draw. A cool feature I thought of instead pressing a button for a skill you can draw the symbol for that skill , and last but not least over 20 character plus 2 main characters a future game I wanna make on Xcode NOT RPG MAKER. HAHAAH well that's my first game.
i want to make an fps game where it's totally different than any fps in the appstore i want to have a strong story to it and want awesome graphics and gameplay.
it's cool to see a couple of people talk on a forum about wanting to get involved and making a game Although be warned it is a tremendous amount of work and twice as much heartbreak. Especially if you have zero idea going into it what all is involved in every regard. Lots of people look from the outside in and expect "oh I have all these ideas and raw energy and I want to make this fresh rad game with tons of characters and RPG elements and racing minigames and use the unreal engine so it will have lots of realtime shadows and reflections and blah blah blah" and all of this before one even has an idea what goes into programming a single buttonDown! The reality is that everything is quite complex and, while there are a ton of great tools (so many of which are FREE!) and also a huge community to learn from/with, it really does take a good deal of time and energy.. and patience to get beyond the initial barriers. If you do go through some hoops and actually get started, you'll learn that even a small, seemingly simple app will balloon into a ton of work (and easily more than you would have expected). Interface design. Character design. Level design. Getting map editor X to sync with engine Y. What devices do I support. Who's going to animate all these characters. Who will make a soundtrack. Do I have enough room in memory for all this stuff. What name will be descriptive and stand out enough for the media to take notice. How do I design an icon that looks cool amidst 55,000 other ones. Do you want to make something cool so that you can say "yeah, I did that?" and have something neat and complete to show off to your friends? Or are you hoping to actually make a few dollars from your efforts? (basically, purely hobby or business-driven?) Both of these notions are completely different purposes/paths for development. I'm not here to shoot you down. Doing app development has been some of the most rewarding times I've experienced in my career, even if it has brought me dangerously close to the edge of my bank account (and sanity). The honest truth is that Apple and their ilk have really brought upon a new age where all of this stuff is so much more available to Joe Shmoe. Yes, honestly, anyone CAN make Doodle Jump, even if you're 12 years old. It might look pretty rough, and play a little sloppy, but you can learn to do it and that experience will absolutely teach you a lot (and help you realize what goes into everything, even if just a tiny taste - and then you will know if you want to go further). Yeah, the "Golden Days" when anyone could put up anything on the store are long over and it's a whole different ballgame now, but this whole side of the larger industry is still in it's infancy and you can bet that there's a few people who are just getting their feet wet with development/business right now for the very first time will be Tomorrow's Bigshots. There's still plenty of room to vie for that position. It's not going to come easy, but you have to start somewhere. And yes, most people who read these words will never get anywhere near there, but no war was won by people who never even tried to do anything. Get busy!
