3 good places to get some information on most things headphone related www.head-fi.org - forums www.headphone.com - retail sales, but they have very good professional reviews, as well as user reviews on lots of different cans www.goodcans.com - also does retail sales, but have good headphone reviews as well. I like headphone.com and goodcans as standards - then wander over to head-fi to see what everyone's opinions are - but head-fi you get lots of opinions, and mostly have no idea if they are actually skilled, or you like the opinion because it is the same as your own... Audiogon has great forums, but you have to know what you want, as it is strictly forum - ask a question and get answers. And if you look through some of the information there, there are folks dealing with BIG money in audiophile equipment, and so is somewhat intimidating when one is looking at (relatively) inexpensive equipment. BTW, I too recommend other headphones other than Beats. Sennheiser makes some good ones (I own the old 600's), but as noted, there are many other brands that are equally good, and there are some phenomenal cans out there for less than $100 (Grado 80's). Also, some great in-ear as well (the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10's go on sale on Amazon every now and again for about $95) Good hunting. It is a shame that most places that sell this stuff won't let you try it anymore - headphones, earbuds, etc are definitely very much personality driven, and what sounds good to one person, another won't like, and so you have to buy on faith, but it is not unusual that people will buy a set, and think that all those rave reviews are crazy, as they sound like crap to you...
^ hit the nail on the head there.. I'm on this forum and a lot of others on here probably are too. Whoever is arguing buying mac products are the same as buying beats you are completely misguided. Beats are over-priced AND low end Apple is over-priced AND high end. I've got a pair of Ultrasone HFI-780s and they're the best headphones i've ever had the pleasure of using. If I could afford a pair of proper Denon cans i'd be in heaven
Huh? Do you honestly own anything Apple cuz it LOOKS good? I don't. I like Apple products cuz they do the job the best for me.
