hey LOLavi, yeah the game was short to start with but I think everyone's pretty happy with the length now. Selling the game with just the first world to start with really helped us startup as a company and let us go full time as a group. We also bought our artist a nice new PC, which he greatly appreciated after working on a 5 year old laptop Awesome, we spent a lot of time refining the control scheme. Glad to hear you like it. We've got a couple new trailers put together to show off the game as well. If anyone wants to see what the final product looks like now, check this out: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Also here's some parody artwork our artist put together, pop quiz! Whoever can guess the game (and the specific game in its series) that the art is parodying wins a promo code
:O Oh very nice! My brother and I were very big fans of the old Sierra games when we were growing up. We recently watched a long play of King's Quest 5 and it inspired this poster. Excellent recall Appletini! The other developer with access to generating promo codes for us is currently asleep. I'll direct message you a code in about 8 hours or so, I promise. PS: I'm real good at keeping promises.. I just finished updating an iOS game from 8 to 50 levels over the past 6 months
I can't believe I still haven't picked this one up yet considering how much I love platformers and the praise this title gets. I'll get around to it once I finish up some of my other recent purchases. Congrats on finishing up and releasing all the levels!
I was fortunate enough to beta test the final version pre-release, and have to say it's been a pleasure to watch Bean's Quest grow from a promising new title into one of the greatest platformers on the app store.
So I'm really the only one that didn't like this game? everyone seems to only throw praises at it... yet I never managed to keep my interest in this game past stage 2 =/ It's good to see the developer add so many levels to this game, and they already have my money to show my support... too bad this game didn't really appeal to me
How come it didnt appeal to you though ? Not saying you have to like it but just interested in why you didnt like it. I love platformers so that helps but didnt think i would like a constant bouncing bean, but i got used to it and liked a lot of the levels, the continous bouncing is something a bit different from the usual platformers. Plus i loved the SNES/NES style graphics
with your comment, now you know why i didn't like it... i love platformers... SNES being my fave platform of all time thnx to the platformers and rpg's.... and i bought this cuz of the graphics and it being a platformer (My faves on iOS being Terra Noctis and League of Evil)... but the constant bouncing and the "you have to play perfectly in order to achieve %100" objectives killd it for me... i like everything about this game except the gameplay x_x
Fair enough, yeah did take a bit of time getting used to the constant bouncing i must admit. Great little game though
Wow, what a massive and awesome update. Even like the new intro video. On the game's overall playability, I can see where some people don't like the constant jumping as it took me a while to get used to it. But once I did, I really began to love this game. I do agree that it may be a bit harder to get 100% on levels with the gameplay mechanic, but honestly I have a hard time even on games like Terra Noctis getting everything (although it won't prevent me from going back and replaying for it).
Hey awp69, one of the devs here. Something I thought I would mention about the final update, we actually tweaked the way the Jump Par achievement works in the game. Mainly, we've added leniency to the jump pars across all stages. They're now more like actual golf pars (funny that..) rather than "bare minimum jump counts" as they were before. However, we recognise some people really do love the brutality of the "perfect jump pars", so we've kept them in as a second tier of challenge you can achieve, if you get the perfect jump par the shoe icon becomes golden and shines (indicating a whole new level of awesome) So in summary, the jump pars are a lot more accessible for players than before but there's still plenty of challenge available for those that seek it, especially when competing on the leaderboards!
Game Impressions This game reminds me of Cauldron II by palace software on C64 with the constant bouncing, thankfully its a whole lot easier though.
Why does the new update for me just say it fixes music bugs? No mention of the new levels. Checked the app after updating and still only have 3 worlds, nothing new...
The updates take a bit of time to propagate across the App Store, and across different geographical regions I think. We were seeing similar effects a few hours ago, don't worry, it should be available very soon for you. Captive, this game is the one you're talking about yeah? Pretty classic. I always liked the "pitch black" c64 style, so gloomy. Also those two villain's heads in the top left and top right of the HUD are awesome.
Can't wait to play the update! Didn't know it was out yet.. Will go download it on my iPad now ! This game never gets old.. There's always new challenges and content, much respect to the devs for not just releasing and running like other devs! =] can't wait to play the final chapter ^.^
Congratulations on winning Best Game at the Global Game Jam 2012. Any chance your winning title, Omelette Boris, will come to iOS?
