Solid world building combined with deceptively simple gameplay. Sound and visuals are all excellent. Part of the challenge and the fun of the game is mastering the controls. The set up is not straightforward by design, effectively recreating the experience of piloting a heavy piece of equipment. I’m really curious to see how the game changes once you switch sides. From the first few minute of gameplay, I’m fully onboard. bx59 likes this. Mercurial Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2020 52 19 8 Male #5 Mercurial, May 7, 2020 "World building"? On the one hand it’s pulling me in because I remember an old Atari ST (or Amiga?) game that looked very very similar and on the other hand the PC/Switch reviews are pretty harsh on the controls.... Because of how integral each step is, you can’t have a simple “walk left” and “walk right” command. It’s confusing at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Quite interested how the walking and shooting feel on mobile. Downloading now. Edit: Pleased to report that the controls actually work pretty well. Walking each foot separately will take some getting used to if you’re not expecting it but so far, I LIKE! sugimulm Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2010 2,457 46 48 The last time zone for iOS game releases :( #10 sugimulm, May 8, 2020 Apparently there is an auto-walk option on the Switch, is there one for iOS? It’s not in the options, so unless it pops up later on at some point... no? Controlling the legs separately is so integral to the experience though, I wouldn’t want to give that up even if it were an option. sugimulm likes this. sugimulm Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2010 2,457 46 48 The last time zone for iOS game releases :( #12 sugimulm, May 8, 2020 thanks Echo, I’ll check this out Jstorm Well-Known Member Feb 2, 2020 1,082 474 83 Male Employed Earth #13 Jstorm, May 8, 2020 This is such a great game. Attached is the screenshot of how controls are placed. Lower left slider controls the tilting of the walker front/back, while buttons on the lower right control right/left legs. To move forward, you need to tilt forward and move legs alternatively, and the opposite for reverse. You can control the length of a step by the amount of the time you hold down a leg control. The description above might sound complicated, but it actually isn’t. I am being able to control my walker without checking the location of buttons after the first mission. What this control scheme excels at is providing a feeling that I am piloting a walker. If the walker control was just a simple right/left arrow, this would fell into an another generic side scroller. Oh, and I should mention that animations are great as well. The sticky blood trail after stepping onto someone isn’t something you see on an iPhone games often. I struggled with the keyboard and gamepad controls (the main reason why I play iPad games these days is for the tap controls). Anyone played that version and then bought this version? Just curious how the controls compare. The game seems like fun. But wanted to chime in since you're planning to play it on iPad, and this fella seems quite frustrated. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #17 stubbieoz, May 14, 2020 The lady is actually a boy. Not the first to be mistaken oh wow! thanks for posting that. Made my decision pretty easy, as I will be playing on the big iPad Pro. Why developers don’t have user adjustable controls baffles me sometimes. I will wait and see if the game gets patched to be more iPad friendly. Thanks again bx59 bx59 likes this. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #18 metalcasket, May 14, 2020 LMAO, nah, AppUnwrapper, while sounding like the eternal soul of a 12 year old boy, is actually female. bx59 Well-Known Member Dec 2, 2016 238 116 43 #19 bx59, May 14, 2020 I’ve just edited my post to be on the safer side lol...
