Black holes should be pretty rare, so tough luck :) Especially if they did a lot of damage to you since they can appear anywhere on the map and beat the enemy too.

Let me know if they continue to appear like crazy :)

Second run, no black holes effected me, but did the enemy, so, yes, was bad luck on my first game to get hit twice.
Is there any advanced warning that black hole are forming or and alarm once they do form (especially out of view)?
If b-holes (just like callin' me that) pull modules away from the station, is there a way to "tow" them back into position?

There is a notification down to the left, the orange !. It's there for some time. But it doesn't help all that much since the black hole comes immediately but perhaps gives a little chance to be more alert at least.

No way to tow back :)

In Battlevoid Harbringer I loved the one similarity it has in common with FTL that those games are unforgiving. You might build an awesome ship but it still can be blasted in seconds if you made a silly mistake.

And the dev reacted to our complains and wishes in the firs game.

Going to buy this right now. :)

    Its really god.

Was in the 3. Mission on normal campaign.
    Got my ass kicked.
    Thought the balancing was off.

Then tried again with new loadout.
    And strategy.
    And won.
    -so thats nice :)

    2 minor things:

unlocking goes very slow. 4-8 battles to unlock eacj thing (30+ min each).

    And

I kinda miss the weapons variation of each weapon, from harbinger

I was under the impression upgrades and reasearch carried over between sectors, but that does not appear to be the case. Hope I'm just misunderstanding, because if there is no real continuity between campaign sectors, then I'm not sure I'm really digging this.

after a battle, you got exp to unlock stuff and maybe buy some pre-built fleet or extra resource to help in next battle. But the exp you gain is so less to decide to buy (1 time) an pre-built fleet to survive next battle or saving for upgrading stuff later. For me, i think the reward each battle is not worth.

    Multiplayer

I'm really enjoying the game - would dearly love to see something like this with multiplayer though! Are there any plans in that direction, anyone know?

After playing multiple sessions, I've come to my final conclusion: while the game is not bad and there is enjoyment to be had, some of the things that made Harbinger really appealing for me, did not translate to this game. Sector siege is frantic by comparison, a true RTS, and while battles in Harbinger played out in realtime, the overall pace of the game was determined by the player. I am also turned off by the lack of persistent progression. Sure you gain exp to unlock things, but why do I need to research the same tech and repurchase upgrades every sector? The graphics also feel like a step backwards. The sprites and animations in Harbinger, while simple, were polished and smooth, and despite only controlling three ships, it still conveyed a feeling of epic space battles. Sector Siege vastly increases the scale of battle overall, but it doesn't feel like it. While it seems to use the same assets, images fidelity of those assets are reduced due to image scaling, and on my device, the frame-rate, while not bad, Is noticeably lower than Harbinger. There also appears to be some inconsistent alignment of both thrust and projectiles to the rotation/heading of the ships, likely a result of the image scaling. I also noticed some anomalies relating to depth/draw-order, where ships appear to move between the guns on the ships beneath them; it's not consistent, but does occur.

In the end, the game just made me long for Harbinger. In fact, once I fired Harbinger back up, it was like coming home; it just looks and plays so much better. That's not to say that those who love RTS won't find this an improvement, but as a turn based, roguelike fan, for me, Sector Siege simply doesn't scratch the itch I hoped it would.

    Loving this

More games should be written like this. Ones that allow customisation and varied tactics and naturally provide strategic depth. An absolute peach of a game!

If the tech tree was persistent between battles you’d chew through it in two battles and have nothing to unlock. So seems to work ok as it is.

Would love to see a bigger station or two as one of the unlock options though.

Working hard on an update! Won't be too long before the first update is out, bringing a couple of new units and more to the mix.

Good news! 3 new stations arrive to help you defend from incoming attacks. The battlestation from one of the first Battlevoid games makes a cameo. BSE Firstcontact is a point defense specialist station, having 8 pd slots to help you shoot down missiles and fighters.

In addition to the BSE Firstcontact, you now also have the BSE Rampart and BSE Bastion available. These two stations are the big and busky stations, offering a real choice for heavy defense against incoming attacks. This was something that was missing from the human force, but not anymore!

Hope you enjoy the new update.

Completed The game on normal and found it fun.
The controls are spot on and everything In The ui Works very well.
And the graphics and audio was also very fine.

But there is something with balancing, replayability etc.
Unlocking eg. The photon turret makes Every other strategy pointless.
You simply have to survive while researching the 3 techs, then built some ships with it and go to town.
-so no reason to try out different things like in harbinger (where youwere looot/random shop dependent).

Also the campaign got very long, due to this rinse and repeat. The many similar maps, never forced you to use different strategies.

Still a lot of fun hours, and really looking forward to your next game.
The core recipy is certaintly there.
