I did and right after finishing the basic tuorials I check my skills and there is nothing. I played a while in thinking the skills may pop up after a few levels, nothing. Do I have to visit a special place in order to get my previously earned skills?
Yes When I created ng+ it said copying spells. Also my savefile states 49 spellbooks. Character skill menu active and passive is empty.
Any leveling build suggestions for new players? I'd love some suggestions on how to level up the first time (NOT NG+ releveling). What are some good builds to help me get to the advanced combos? So far (I'm only level 7 or so), I've been using mostly Rogue skills with a splash of Bard, Knight, and Paladin. Most fights for me consist of stealthing in, Sneak Attacking one mob (usually a caster), Charming another mob (usually a big bruiser), and then going to town on the rest during the confusion. Any suggestions on where to go from here? Acquiring some AOE abilities would definitely be nice, among other things. Any help would be greatly appreciated, but I'm more interested in general leveling builds than in ones tailored to me specifically. Thanks!
I'm following the rogue/ranger path, levelling my dexerity and skill. The rangers abilities are great! A wolf as a pet, and a AoE fire arrow ability. For rogue, not many AoE tbh. For levelling up and getting gold quick go to the Brigand Camp, it's rewarding and takes 3 full tries to level up around level 7.
I was trying to see what is the lowest level to finish this game and created a cross-breed of many classes. At level 26 I was able to fight through all the chaos towers without using a single health potion due to following: Monk's Wind Walk, 1000 Palm = deal lots of damage Paladin's Aura of Light = because of above, lots of healing Bard's Passive Favoured Soul to prolong the positive effect 2 Almanac of Annihilation = 40% cooldown speed Battlemage Raiment = 6% attack/cooldown speed With about half the cooldown time, I was able to repeatedly use Aura of light to heal myself whilst dealing damage. Switching between Bard's Song of War and Ninja's Smoke bomb at times. Song of War seems better with high dps. So after clearing all the chaos towers and the first 2 bosses without using health potion, I found out that the last boss is an uber caster... Which means...do I have to now max out my battlemage skills to take him on? Any advice is welcome. On levelling up as a low level, I found Bard's Charm skill and Rogue's Stealth skill very helpful. Bard's Charm skill can be picked up easily and most of the times you are taking less damage and have someone to fight on your side.
@Wisely: With what you have, you should be able to defeat all 3 towers and even the final boss (that one'll take patience, though). I used a very similar build, with 1000 Palms, Windwalk and Manastrike as main damage source; and Aura for healing. If you don't have them yet, I strongly recommend to get the first 2 Battlemage skills: Flame Weapon (important part is that it gives +10% crit chance), and said Manastrike for AoE. Plan B: if you have skills that give more attack speed and critchance, use those with items that increase attack speed. I preferred pure speed over a mix: Ninja Gloves +25% Speed over Rune of the Serpent (+9% Critchance, +12% Attack Speed). Robes of the Shadowmancer seriously boost Flameweapon, but have +InstaCooldown as second ability; so they synergise better with e.g. Azamoth's Eyeball. What I could not figure out yet is if Flameweapon affects only auto-attacks, or melee skills like 1000Palms as well.
In general, DPS characters shine when they don't have to move very often. If they do need to move, they're better off DPH. You're going to find the final boss as presenting a similar issue as the north tower boss but much worse. I didn't have the same kind of setup you did when I encountered them, but I wound up swapping out a number of buffs in favor of direct attack skills.
Great advice. Really, do not underestimate the usefulness of the Bard's Charm skill. It's worth blowing your first 3 skill points on CHA to get this, even if you don't intend putting any more points into it. A great opener in any dungeon room, also very helpful in the arena - particularly at the start of each wave. Sure, it won't work directly on a boss, but as soon as that boss spawns any adds/minions, put a charm on one of them and the boss will attack that instead of you.
Thanks for advice. Great to hear! I already have many Battlemage's skills up to Ghost Hand. But I am not using ManaStrike which maybe I should now. What are the passive skills you are using? Problem with the third boss is that how do I deal with his highly damaging casting? Keep spamming Manastrike and Wind Walk to get constant healing? Found it hard to target him because he teleports around.
Always welcome! I only have the first 2 BM skills, so I cannot comment on the rest (BM/Barb is on my list to try out). Manastrike is great for AoE, I can definitely recommend it. Makes for a good rotation with 1000 Palms, Manastrike, <whatever> . Passives vary depending on what I want to focus on: I use Fists/Unarmed with the character I finished the game with. Till level 30 or so I went with - Monk: Thundering Blows, Evasion. NOTE: Concussion would be great for the knockdown, but doesn't seem to work at all currently; maybe a bug. Mika wrote it should work with Unarmed. - Paladin: Punishment, Stalwart. That left me 2 slots for experimenting with other skills. E.g. I tried the Monk's Dragon Style briefly, but found the gain in Attack Power a bit underwhelming on lower levels (e.g. from AP 30 to 31, nothing to write home about) . I picked up other Passives whenever I met the requirement, or had to invest only a skillpoint or two in something else than my main stats. So I cannot remember when exactly I picked up e.g. Barbarian's Deathwish (great skill, btw), or Knight's Grit (also very good). Except for big bosses, I usually just left the Bard's Lucky and Quickstudy in, for extra Gold and XP. They bind quite a few points into Charisma, but are definitely worth it. And you can pick up Paladin skills that need CHA as well. For bosses/monsters that move a lot I *really* love the two jump melee skills, used together: Monk's Karmakick, and Barbarella's Savage Pounce. Especially with cooldown reducing items it is so short that you can cycle them almost constantly. Aura of Light took care of most of my healing. If pressed, I throw in the Monk's Spirit Trance and/or Empty Body as well.
Yah, love Karma Kick for targeting. Will pick up Savage Pounce too, it's the next barbarian skill. Thanks once again! Will try on the last boss again!
Edit: Looks like Nullzone beat me to the punch, but I'll leave my answer here. Melee characters generally should have a gap-closing skill on their bar, and there are quite a few different ones. Monks get Karma Kick, Barbarians get Savage Pounce, Rogues get Shadowstep, and Ninja get Blade Rush. It's easy for Dex characters to have both Shadowstep and Blade Rush (and, in my opinion, all dual wielding characters should have Blade Rush on their bar as it's a potential room-sweeper). Battlemage has Ghost Hand, which pulls in a target instead, but it serves a similar function. You can also use knockdowns (Ki Blast, Thunderbolt, Radiance, Apollo Strike) against non-bosses to re-position yourself while the enemies are on the ground. Not only are those gap-closing skills useful for specific bosses, but they also allow you to quickly get to enemy healers and dangerous ranged units. In a pinch, you can even use them to get some space away from a pack of enemies towards a singleton while buying time for your abilities to cool down.
Dimir posted a list of the Colosseum rewards, which are the best weapons and armor in the game. The shop will randomly generate loot based on your level, and assuming you completed the quest to upgrade the shop, can sell you items that are nearly as good as the top end gear for 100 kills in the Colosseum.
Here's something for ya' to chew on Can anyone make a build that is a solid auto-attacker? The way I see it, auto attacks are only for when your skills are on cooldown, but can someone put together a build that is all about auto-attacking? AND is a viable build for taking on bosses? In the original BH, auto-attacks were key, so increasing attack speed was a no-brainer, but in every build I've done so far, my auto attacks are pretty much just there to finish off enemies with a sliver of health left.
Premeditation is pretty late in the Ranger skill tree, though. Radiance / Thunderbolt loops are late game / new game + stuff.
I posted a Fist of Fury build over here that optimizes unarmed attacks with Frenzy and Wrath. It's excellent for the Colosseum and dungeons, and is fine for the first couple of tower bosses; however, the mage boss and final boss teleport around too much for it to be very effective. Honestly, though, no auto-attack build is going to be good against those two bosses. Even in a very optimized build with the best gear, your auto-attack is going to do, at best, around 300 damage. In a focus fire DPS build, your skills will do 3000. The mage boss and final boss just teleport around too much and are completely immune to crowd control, so you'll rarely be able to land more than 1 or 2 attacks at once, so you want to make sure those couple of blows are hard-hitting skill attacks and not auto-attacks.
Any good ideas for a knight build? Have battlemage mana strike, and have some points to spread around. Don't want to waste them...
