Has anyone fought the necromancer when given the option instead of learning from him? On the wiki they make him seem impossible to defeat, but i didn't know if anyone fought and defeated him.

Would be sweet if you decide to kill certain NPCs like trainers that you got legendary gear or exclusive gear.

Gave him my best shot, lasted about 8 seconds! I was level 16 Paladin at the time. I think if you went in with a level 50, you could kill him though.

Might be a bit hard to implement now, but a great way to fix the no cd spell spam arena build would be to cap max level at 30. Not sure if you can max out bard/paladin/ranger with generalist by then. Maybe just barely. But if you can your int will be horrible. Then add an int requirement to scepters and spell power chest items. Even if you could do it, you'd do no damage. And the build would be gimped for anything outside arena. Also making say mummies knockdown resistant would nix it.

But more importantly, a level cap would make us want to replay the game and try out new game+ builds. While it's fun grinding up the arena to max out everything there isn't much incentive to try something new as you've already seen it all.

Thinking of giving this game a crack. Tried the original Battleheart but did not finish it.

Some questions for experts here (tried reading 50 pages of thread but don't think I fully understood the campaign)...

Is there ONE SINGLE campaign that is common for ALL characters?
Does the game end when this campaign is completed (like killing the final boss)?
How long is the campaign (in hours)?
Can you level up your character to the MAX WITHOUT FARMING by the time you finish the main campaign?
How many side quests are there? Are they all optional?
What is the "best" non-warrior/non-fighter class to use to beat this game?
Which class of characters is the MOST POWERFUL potentially in the game?

Thanks in advance for answering these questions.

I'd definitely buy it. Not that I have much time to listen to music. But for supporting you awesome folks: any day!
And - if Apple still allows that - you could always add a "Donate" IAP, like Raptisoft did with Solomon's Keep/Boneyard.

    Yup.

Nope. You can keep levelling up after you beat the final boss. There's an endless arena too. You also have the option to play the new game plus which will reset the campaign, your level and stats, but you keep all skills learned.

Took me 16 hours to beat my first round. Some class skills may make things go faster. MAY.

Nope. There a lot of post game content to play.

Only a few, but significant enough not to be ignored.

None. Coz eventually, you can have a level 1 character with ALL the class skills in the game, and you can spec stats as you need to to make the perfect character for yourself.

    You're welcome ;)

the no cd spell spam you mentioned is in the end game usually after you beat it or are well leveled enough to beat it. I dont see a problem with infinite spell spam builds (i dont have it yet, but may try it). They dont really effect the campaign until ng+. In that respect though, i could see why there isnt much incentive to keep playing aside from alternate story elements.

1 Campaign starts fresh if you start a new character. it wont carry over and i dont think there is anyway to trade gear if thats what your getting at. People may have been referring to new game+ in previous posts you saw as skills do carry over.

2 According to Mika (the developer), there is no max level. However you can play through with little grinding and fall somewhere probably between 20-30 lvls and possibly beat the game. It will be hard without some grinding depending on class, but you can do it. I personally like the game so much that it doesnt feel grindy even when i do grind ;)

3 Not sure on the number of side quests, but most are optional. I think the only one you have to do is the main one from the castle.

4 Can you be more specific here? Do you mean a range based class or simply one that doesnt wear heavy armor or weapons? Ninja/Rogue and Mage/Witch/Necromancer seem like very good classes and are probably what you would be looking for. I did the Mage based route and thought it was great once you get key spells.

5 this is hard to say as many people mix classes to get some pretty powerful results. You might want to view this thread for optional builds: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=230554

Let me just say this game was awesome. The boss fights were interesting and required dynamic play. And I had a ton of fun leveling up my bard/rogue/ninja/paladin using impending doom + aura + wrath with lullaby/smoke screen as support and blade rush/shadow step/back stab as attacks.

But my fragile little melee crit buff lifesteal machine was having trouble at level 27 or so beating the last two spell caster bosses.

So I hit the arena to gear up. I even hit 140 kills before I hit thirty. Then in the arena I started gaining a level or two each run. Next thing you know I'm 46 with almost every class maxed out (missing knight and barb) and I beat the game as spell caster.

I kinda feel like I cheated myself out of a good challenge. And now my char is an über beast with everything maxed out diminishing the challenge of future content and the incentive to replay the game to try out new skills. I mean I could do it anyway, but you know.

Anyway this game was a blast. My experience would have been improved by a level cap. Also it's clear the game is unfinished. Assassinate and shadow step were causing a crash at least as of last night wheneverI used them during certain enemy casting animations like fireball. Also the early quests were great. Then they ended after like level 5. Needs more content. Still best RPGs I've played in years. However I only got about 15 hours out of the game.

If we are comparing this game to skyrim as some standard bearer of all things RPGs, skyrim bored me to tears so did all the elder scrolls games. The combat was also terrible. I grew up on RPGs from roguelikes to early Nintendo final fantasy 1 and everything since then. If you have any interest in RPGs you will love this game. The game just needs to be finished.

    More questions... Can someone help?

Are there any penalty by choosing casual level of difficulty? In other words, are there any mission or character limit or penalty that is imposed because you chose a lower difficulty level as compared to normal or hard?

When clearing an area, how do you know that you have explored everywhere, leaving no place unturned? Is there a sign that tells you that you have "cleared" the entire area?

If I exit the game in the middle of an area, when I return to the game, I need to start all over again. Is this supposed to be this way (no save in between)?

I am going around the map randomly to find out which area to explore next, using the suggested "level" as a gauge of each area's difficulty. I don't see a "core" path. Is it supposed to be this way?

Kinda sad that I cannot enter City Hall and my game usually crashes at the forbidden library. :( That means for now I am limited to 9 classes. Hope this gets fixed soon. (Ipod 4th Gen)

  18. 1. Not sure, sorry. I haven't played around with the difficulty settings much.

    2. Other than at least one dungeon/quest that I can think of that you *need* to clear all the enemies out, I don't think there is any way to know. It's very possible to miss things (such as the Witch) and still complete a dungeon.

    3. Right, that's how things work, and I assume it's intentional. The game only saves when you're on the world map. So make sure to head to the map if you want to save, or force quit the game while inside a village or dungeon if you don't want to save your actions.

    4. Mostly, yes. But there are some quests that lead you along. Try to find NPCs with an orange "!" over them.

First of all, this game is simply fantastic. Nice graph, great music (loving the vocal melodies), spot on touch controls, perfect game mechanics. 5/5 stars.

I don't know if Mika is reading these posts, but I've stumbled upon some bugs (sorry if these were mentioned before me):

    1. We can get the necromancer's skull from the Forbidden Library before we talk to the students in the Academy. If we do this, then talking to the students about the forbidden library opens up a quest location there, but has no information at all. Disappears if we go through again and get the chest at the end. Maybe it has to do something with killibg the necromancer in the school, because I destroyed him.

    2. Also, if we resurrect the Necromancer in the school, then if we go to the Academy to talk to him, then he says the exact same things as if he was in the school. That's kinda out of place in light of he's NOT in the school there. :)

    3. Another bug:
I've done Rasmus' quest with the Spider Queen, I've used a LOT of primal elemental spells in the battle (playing a mage), but the students said that I used other attacks and not magic. What's up with that?
