I'd recommend watching Sanuku's gameplay video on the first page of this thread. I definitely wouldn't call this a Diablo clone though. The biggest difference I'd say is that there isn't nearly as much emphasis on loot as in Diablo. The emphasis is more on acquiring and using different combinations of skills. The vibe is also very different, much more humorous than Diablo. Also effectively there is only one character class, unlike Diablo or most other RPGs where you have to choose from different classes with different advantages and disadvantages. There is a concept of classes in the game, but it only applies to the various teachers you'll meet in the game who can teach you skills, not your character. Your character can learn all the skills from any of the teachers*, so really classes in this game are just categories of skills that you can learn. This has the advantage of allowing you to design your dream character class with no restrictions on which abilities you can combine. It has the disadvantage of removing the whole meta-game that a lot of RPGs have of trying to find the most effective strategies within the constraints of the different classes, since there are no long term consequences for any choices you make about which skills to learn. * This isn't completely true, since there are some mutually exclusive skills. In particular there are some hand-to-hand combat skills you can only learn if you choose to not use any weapon skills.
The bard is in the tavern in the town you start in. The Ninja is a random encounter called "???" that shows up around the same area. Here are full instructions with screenshots to make sure you don't choose the wrong dialogue choices: http://www.appunwrapper.com/2014/05/31/battleheart-legacy-ninja-guide-skills-tree/
I just realized I do see a brief message saying "Uploading to iCloud..." which displays for a second, so what I said about not seeing any confirmation that I even hit the upload button was incorrect. However I don't get any message saying the upload was complete. I have so far not been able to download though so I don't know what happens for downloads, since when I open the game on my iPhone the download button is always grayed out. And yes, I have uploaded from my ipad multiple times and waited much more than 10 seconds. I'm connected to the same iCloud account on both devices, and iCloud syncing works fine in other games. There definitely seems to be something buggy about syncing, since it's working for some people, but a lot of others are reporting the same behavior that I'm seeing.
The learning of new skills is also limited by how you create your character. So if you are creating a tank, it is unlikely that you are spending points on intelligence to aquire magic skills, for example. So, while you have a lot of flexibility in how you create your character, it's not very feasible to create a "jack of all trades" kind of character. Anyone tried a "pure" playthrough yet? Like, focus on only one class and go with that. Might be fun to try too. The replay value is huge just by beating the game with all the different classes. Factor in creatinb different builds and you can have fun for a lot of time. I do wish there were more content in the way of different maps, quests and story though.
I know someone else mentioned botching the witch quest - which I spectacularly did too. I don't want to go all the way back to the beginning (after putting in a good few hours into my current rogue/ranger/ninja) but want to check out some of the witchy skills. Someone mentioned there was another chance - any details on this or am I totally back to noobsville?
I'm lazy and don't want to do all the work for you, but most successful Arena builds that can hit at least 200 consist of the following cores: Premeditation > Song of Inspiration > Radiance - Game breaking combo that's being patched out soon, which relies on an infinite instant-cooldown full-screen knockdown. Aegis / Smoke Bomb / any summons > Madness > Horror - Cycle these skills to keep opponents ensnared nearly constantly, and throw around as much AOE as you have. Impending Doom + Aura of Light + Crit stuff - Use Aura of Light to heal, and Impending Doom with Crit gear and skills to remove the cooldown on your skills, and cast Aura of Light again. Using those cores, you can fill in whatever you please and farm the Arena for Legendaries.
Thanks! I just tried connecting my phone to WiFi and the download button became enabled, and I was able to download. I wonder if it's intentional or a bug. I've never encountered another game with this limitation.
You're not truly limited though, since there's nothing stopping you from grinding out enough XP to acquire all the skills in one play through. Several people have already posted about having done so. I would agree most people probably won't play that way though, and will focus their points on certain attributes to support whatever kind of build they have in mind.
Haha at first glance I thought the second photo had all three of you seated around a campfire. How cute.
Hi I decided to try your monk/ninja/barbarian build and I find it much more powerful than my previous characters Mage/necro build. Haven't quite managed to completely get all the ninja skills yet but getting there. Just wondered if you're still using this build? Wether you've made any changes? I was also wondering what items you were using thanks!
Any good places to level that isn't arena? I am crashing about every 10 waves now and cannot get a legendary anymore...very frustrating, but mainly want to get lvl 51 and restart anyway so mostly just want xp.
Wow got my wizard/Necro/witch/bard leveled up a bit, and I dare say, I'm enjoying it even more than my rogue/ranger/ninja. Can mostly just stand back and let all the decoys take the damage.
Midnight Canyon WTF?? Anybody have any advice for this level? i keep killing guys and more just keep spawning from the tents; like 5-6 at a time...over and over and over until i die.
