Soo, im level three..now what? All quests are lvl 7-9? Am i suppose to grind the first quest (cave) over and over until im lvl7? Lol? Other then that, game is great. 4,5/5
I agree. A skill cooldown reset would be nice once clearing the room, but no need to touch health. health is ok
Actually I almost always have to wait for my charm spell to recharge, as I use it frequently, and with health I've often had to stand there for minutes for my health to recharge as well. Additionally, moving while in mid battle backwards to a room you already cleared could count as a cheat since enemies don't chase you down the room, but I have to admit this is a tactic I've used in tough situations before and then waiting for skills + health to recharge was painful. In any case, as a rule, I think when you stand in a room with no enemies, both skills + health should recharge instantly. (health only if you own a regeneration ring.) It would keep the action running at a brisker pace.
Explore the map more, talk to people to receive quest, there are level 3 area (Abandoned Shaft), Level 4 area (Rich Mine), level 5 area (Campsite), Level 6 area (Ruin) that you can go even at the beginning of the game
That would totally negate the whole idea of CDs and regen ring value. What's the point of owning a ring with +3 regen or +6 regen if you walk away with auto regen. Doesn't make sense to me, but I guess I'd rather play a game that forces you to make more challenging choices like conserving health potions, making wiser aggressive choices during combat, or sitting around for regen playing completely passive. The core of any good rpg is built around CDs, this forces players to think critically on which spells to cast now, and which to wait on depending how soon you'll get that spell cast back. Main reason why instant cool down chance in this game is one of the best items in the game.
I don't really know what sort of genre standards you're getting the "should" out of here. The fact that rooms within dungeons are separate and dungeons aren't one single area is a rather minor design difference and already gives the advantage that you can just switch rooms if you're in trouble as opposed to having to run outside enemy chase range or something like that. As it is now, there's the usual balance where you can apply tedium to make things easier and it is its own punishment as usual versus taking a faster approach which may be riskier. It seems awfully generous for someone to take out three enemies in short order and be rewarded with complete restoration for that. Plus, it seems like you're falling back on the easy-type RPG philosophy where healing manages to at least match specific effective offensive strategies and often is better. That is, if you reach an impasse, you can do just as well focusing on restorative features and struggling through the battle as you can applying a unique strategy for the situation. I guess you can apply that here, but it's not favored in the way it is in some other games. So, it's a deliberate tedious choice and, in making it less tedious, the game would be significantly dumbed down.
Yeah, sorry. It was me being stupid. I didnt realize you could go to areas without a white dot on them... Ignore me. back to my mighty lvl 4 wizard!
Anyone got any good farming spots for level 23? Still farming the spider queen because I can kill her in about two minutes and get 300 exp for it and seems the quickest for me at the minute.
I'm more inclined to actually make regen items only work in combat, to discourage abusing them by standing around waiting. Your health and potions are supposed to be an hourglass ticking away, and healing skills/items a way to mitigate that fact, but not utterly trivialize it. Resetting your cooldowns I'm not against though, but I'd want to test such a change quite a bit before rolling it out.
Agreed, they must be nuts to call Battleheart Legacy's combat "dull & repetitive". I also loved the "lethargic pace" critique. And though they loved the leveling system and the moral choices, it's too bad the reviewer couldn't grasp the fact that the leveling system and the moral choices tie directly into the combat. Which is hardly dull, repetitive, or lethargic.
Agreed. Free Health regen would be pretty OP, unless you maybe lowered the amount of health potions you get per level? Because then it could become a sort of risk vs reward mechanic, where you always ask yourself it you should risk dying vs survive on low health. But with how the game is balanced currently, I'd agree that free health regen would be bad.
You can get 650 exp for killing the east tower boss and that's around your level. I found the west and north bosses too involved to really farm because they move around so much and I guess they're meant to be harder on top of that, but the east guy is pretty quick.
Overall it was a positive review. I disagree on the combat critiques but I would like to see a bigger world. Hopefully some big updates are in the future. Love the game though.
Once the bugs are fixed I'm going to try to do it with necromancer skeletons/mummies, plus a few well-placed charms to distract my enemies, then take them out with AOE battlemage skills and ninja DPS skills.
Mikamobile- could you please confirm if the inability to reuse the mummy is a bug? Just trying to figure out if its worth using.
The combat is awesome, but they are right about the pacing. There should be more to move the player forward than repeating the same dungeons to grind until you can take higher level dungeons. I'm about 8 hours in and there really isn't anything close to a plot to move you forward. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it! The combat, controls and visuals are just too good. I just wish there were more meat in terms of map, story and quests.
@Werebite it's a bug that's been addressed in the patch that's already been submitted (I'm obviously not Mika but he's said it before) Also wow Appspy... Did they even get past level 5 before writing their review? And yes, the game is going to be slow-paced if all you do is use your skills then retreat to a previous room and let them cooldown. That's not how the game is meant to be played...
