Nice Candi, have you played any other melee to or around that same level? And if so, how would you say the Monk stacks up compared to other melee?

I'm thinking of building one up, just wanted to get some others opinions on it.

    Thanks. :)

I've had a dual weapon (Dagger + Sword) and paladin (Sword + Board) build at that level. The dual weapon was much faster at crunching enemies, but wasn't stable enough to crack 200 enemies very often. The sword + board was stable, but much slower. The monk build I described above splits the difference. It's not as fast as the dual weapon, and not as sturdy as the paladin, but it's fast enough not to be tedious and sturdy enough that when I lose it's often because I slipped up on skill triggers/order/timing.

I think Monk builds are worth exploring, if at least because the online discussions focus on "mage" builds and dual weapon builds because the afford the greatest raw DPS. Very little seems to be said about Monks, and yet I think 1,000 Palms is one of the most effective single-target DPS skills in the game (8s cool down, 7x damage if you only have a single target in front of you).

    Candi, this is greatly appreciated.
I too use a mainly Monk build since it looks pretty badass to go into a mass brawl with only your fists!!
I'm only up to Level 24 myself but am beating down the Level 23 dungeons quite nicely where I seem to struggle with other builds.
My Monk is built with the following Skills - Bard (Charm), Paladin (Power Infusion and Aura of Light, Necro (Raise Skeleton), Battlemage (Thundering weapon, Flame Weapon, since both add to melee damage and Mana strike), finally 1,000 Palms.
I like to hit the Thundering Weapon, hit Mana Strike, hit Flaming Weapon, hit Mana Strike and repeat since they have quick cool downs.
I love watching the enemies go into shock whilst I carry on pummeling them :)

Passives are Army of Doom, Coup De Grace, Thundering Blows, Lethality, Concussion and Death Wish.

I also have Palewood Twig and Holy Water Vial equipped to give me back health and help with other stats but am sure there are much better items out there.

I like your build Candi, am going to check it out since am looking for the perfect balance between maximising melee damage, dodge and getting health back.

I noticed that the Monk is very quick with fists and if timed correctly, you can constantly pummel the enemy without them hitting you with correct passives equipped for dodge :D

Anyone know any good melee builds? I have both Shield Training and Dual Wield. I would prefer something that can replenish hp fast (right now using Wrath and Aura of Light with Word of Retribution) and have good defense, but still cut down enemies relatively quickly. Thanks in advance for helping!

.................... how is that even possible? I'm at level 113 right now and nowhere near that kind of dmg with Tornado.

That's with buffs and Apollo Shot. I've done some leveling since then so damage should be a lil more. Going ingame now and I'll try and post another pic...

Had anyone experimented with the knight ability revenge? ive been using it with premed and its pretty sick. From my tests it does not scale with strength like it says. The only way it scales is with crit and bonus crit damage. It also scales with enemies in the arena. Revenge ALSO heals you with pally aura or life steal. Revenge also can get bonus damage from the barb bleed ability. With 100% crit revenge damage is insane.

Interesting...I was also thinking about constructing a similar build. Had tested a build with the Monk's passive Counter skill which worked pretty well bit haven't tried the Revenge one yet.

This is the most powerful build. Problem is getting one shotted in arena so im going to try to juice up HP. Attack power doesnt seem to do much. Two black candles and plate armor with a shield plus these abilities in the picture is my new build. My goal is 999 waves. The weapon doesnt matter much because revenge is critting for 800 on the first few waves to 4-5k on later waves.

The hardest part about hitting 999 waves if fighting boredom. Not taking boredom into account, the invincible build where you abuse Last Stand can hit 999 waves easy (yes the abuse still works after all the updates).

  17. Love the game, but Casual difficulty unlimited heal potions is a bit overpowered.

Damn, lol...very nice! What did you end up with (how many kills)? And what level are you now?

[edit]. Better question, how much battery that eat up??

I intentionally killed myself at that point because I got bored (and didn't want to pause because I wanted to make sure I got all my level-ups). Took the screenshot and then let him die. That was from yesterday, and today I started another one and I'm at wave 300 at the moment, but got bored so I hit the home button to pause it. Hopefully it doesn't crash, but since I'm happy with my levels now, I don't care if it does crash, so we'll see how high I can go this time around. If I hit 1k I'll take another screenshot and probably quit.

I started at 113, and ended at 181. I was leveling up every 1-2 waves towards the end.

Not sure how much battery I started out with, but it was around 13% by the time I was done.
