I can't believe people are on the fence about this game and it is not a blockbuster game it's made by a very small team 2 people I believe? So the game being as amazing as it is, is a feat in itself. A virtual thumstick for moving would be nice but the double tap and hold isn't bad either, I can't believe someone would rate the game 1 star because it didn't have dual stick or a thumstick though. Anyway finally finished work and can't wait to play more have only had a very brief time so far.
This and Oceanhorn are two different genres. Also if tapping or clicking is an issue for you don't ever play anything Diablo, Torchlight, LoL, Starcraft hack/slash RTS related, fruit ninja, idk the million other tapping games on the app store. Also you do get companions from time to time, I did a side quest helping out an apprentice magician, we joined together to fight in a dungeon and that guy went down like a sack of potatoes. I am hoping I didn't lock out a certain quest line due to that because there was no way I could tank for him as a mage/witch. Also tip to those looking to unlock the witch trainer, I won't spoil what happens but let's just say if you are not careful there are so many ways to blow this opportunity, so I would be wise about my choices on that one. worldcitizen is a massive troll, he spams every thread with nonsense, who knows if he's even playing the games he's complaining about.
I'm afraid a joystick+weapon button wouldn't really work, which is something that becomes more obvious the further you get into the game. Eventually you'll have far too many abilities for such a control scheme to be functional (8 active abilities, plus auto-attacks and potions), and it becomes important to do things like quickly target a distant enemy and stun him, or precisely teleport to a safe place, neither of which would be possible with a joystick or gamepad.
It's perfect it is... Do not need to change... Those who wants v pad or whatever ask them To play another game.. It's their loss... Thank you for this awesome game!!!
I'm loving it so far, but is anyone else getting crashes everytime there's a random encounter? Also controls seem fine to me. Playing on my back in bed, which used to be an issue for the original battleheart because of all the swipes. But the taps are just fine.
That's too bad, but since I haven't played the game, I can't comment on the controls, that wouldn't be fair.
Rocking a kickass monk/ninja combo right now; don't even feel bad about locking out the witch. This game is amazing, GOTW for sure.
I rolled a Mage character as well and now want to dabble with Witch skills (that Drain Life skill looks mighty useful for my weak Mage ). That said, I find the secondary hand on my mage underutilized as obviously I don't need a Bow. I'm thinking if I could at least get him to hold a Shield that would help a lot, right? Or is there something in the future I can look forward to - like say, dual-wielding staffs *gasp that would be awesome!* ?
Anyone else crashing on random encounters? Just started happening to me- released memory, did hard reboot but still crashing whenever I get the ??? screen. iPad Air, iOS 7
Your anger is totally disproportionate. MikaMobile isn't responsible of your injury. Don't need to throw a tantrum, kiddo. @Connector I am not a fan of touch controls and I prefer a virtual pad. However, this game has top-notch touch controls. You should buy it.
I got the ninja through a random encounter; there was a ninja being harassed by some guards and I helped her out. The reward was learning ninja skills. The book was totally unrelated; I just meant that I'm not going magical at all this playthrough because monk/ninja is so satisfying. Might do magic next time, though, in a NG+. Or a pure ranger build-- ahh, the possibilities!
Insta-bought! Several hours in now and loving the game. Great work Mika. My only gripe so far is that it would be nice to know the build trees for the different classes. I absolutely love the mixing/matching of skills and classes but I haven't seen any respec options and I assume that it isn't possible to max out every skill... A compendium or tome or something in the training hall would be fab.
This a million times!!! I couldn't point out exactly what I found made this game so much better than Battleheart, and thats it - the switch from swiping to tapping! That was one of my small gripes with BH which is probably why I am liking this game a whole lot more. And yes there have been crashes, I had a couple of crashes during random encounter cut scenes. Oh and @Savant, I wanted to roll pure mage, but once I went hybrid with the witch class for some hp regen its been a lot easier on my toon.
Mika, Congrats on the launch of the new game. I'll be downloading shortly. Just curious: from a game design decision, why did you decide to ditch the party management aspects of the original Battleheart? Heated party management is something that made og Battleheart special, and somehow you managed to capture the best elements of an MMORPG raid in a very simple game. Again, i'm really just curious more than critical. I haven't played it, and haven't followed your blog in a while. I was surprised to learn that you play with one guy throughout the game. It's a very different direction gameplay wise, which, I'd assume puts a lot more emphasis on either story or exploration. Was there something that you learned from the original battleheart game that was technically challenging? Was this always the direction from the onset?
Cloud backup issue I started playing the game on my iPad and then I backed it up to the cloud. Then I went to my iPhone to play the game and I wanted to download the save game from my iPad but the Cloud was greyed out. Any ideas on how to fix? Update. It suddenly worked!
Much of what Worldcitizen says here always sounds like a poorly constructed lie. You move your wrists, not your shoulders to tap around an iPad. Unless your wrist and elbow joints are fused, it makes no sense why this would hurt your shoulders.
