So....I've mostly abandoned my Rogue/Ranger/Ninja bc my Necro with a bit of Wiz/Witch & Charm thrown in is just a blast to play. I do wish the Wizard skills were better, though. I found most of them underwhelming. Teleport is the only one that I'm really using. I thought they they were going to be more AoE, but the AoE ones only work if you're standing right next to them (Thunderbolt & Blizzard). Seems the Necro's spells are the most useful?

Edit: No wonder those students needed convincing that elemental magic is strong. ;)

I think I'll give this a shot, sounds pretty fun. Was doing pure wizard, but I guess I'll just throw in some witch and necro as well

Tornado is better than any of wizard's AoE in my opinion. Combine that with Radiance and Mass Hysteria you have a great CC build.

The random loot is definitely not the big draw here. The reason why this game is great is the depth of character customization. Loot is simply there to sort of augment your character once you figure out how you want to build them. The main thing that keeps you coming back is trying new combinations of active and passive skills to find what you like best.

Ninja/Barbarian/Battlemage/Rogue thing... Focussing on crit damage and cool down speed. It works pretty well. I adjusted my strategy and beat him on my third try. I switched one of my techniques out for smoke bomb to hide myself from the things that shoot fireballs. That worked pretty well.

The biggest drawback is that there is only one character and Battlehearts best aspect was having a party to battle with. I dearly miss that in this game.

What a pathetic discussion forum. For simply sharing my opinion of the game some braindead, sheepish fanboy resorted to reporting me! It's truly a travesty that the Fanboyism is so rampant that those presented with anything other than a flower positive review is reported.

I suppose I'll state my opinion again- this game is 100% average. If you're looking for a casual, thoughtless ARPG with a basic tiered weapon and skill system look no further. If you're looking for a deep ARPG with varied and plentiful loot, loads of stat points and theory crafting, look elsewhere.

Im surprised by the quality>quantity statement, as to me this game oozes quality.

I have my own critisisms of this game, I think cross class skills should be limited to some degree, even something small. I personally dont like the way you can obtain every skill from every class.

Also, please be nice! Stop trying to invoke an argument by namecalling.

Level 32 when i achieved that, I'm level 35 now but I guess that was a fluke.

Having trouble reaching that again even though I got the legendary sword and armor now haha

Wow thanks for banning that noob. Hi 5.

I don't do more than 100 kills for fear of crashing.

I enjoy both games (Battleheart Legacy and Dungeon Quest) but I think I know where you're coming from. Dungeon Quest is an ARPG where "loot matters". BH:L is more of "skill matters."

In DQ (I feel this is THE most Diablo-like iOS game I have ever played), you run around the dungeons to gain epic equipment. Killing is just a necessity to get your loot.

In BHL, you go through a dungeon to progress the story, albeit a simple quest. The goal is to move through each room/dungeon in the most efficient mix of skills from a total of 12 different skill trees.

Did they increase DQ's characters yet, or are you still stuck with a choice between fighter or mage only? But with 8(?) difficulty levels to choose from. BHL is a single-player with the potential to unlock 12 different classes. How can you even compare the two?

BHL also rewards (or punishes) you with whichever skills you choose to 'equip'. Backread a few pages and you'll see people talking about different builds. Some more effective in quests, some more effective in the Arena but not necessarily better over the other. The point is with the myriad of skills, people are FREE to choose which skills they want according to THEIR OWN playstyle. I believe this is what you would call a real ROLEPLAYING game.

Not bashing or anything but I think you're more into the dungeon crawling aspect of an RPG. DQ is something you always want to "speed through". BHL is something to "savor". To each his own. Some people love JRPG's for the grind, some don't. Some people prefer turn-based "Tactics" over Action RPG's. I do. I'd still prefer Fire Emblem on a GBA or Legend of Legaia on a PS1 over other "modern" games. But I digress.

If you're really unhappy with it, take a break. Or have someone else play it. Sometimes we rediscover things through the eyes of another. :)

    Happy playing, everyone!

Nitpick because I am an oldschool roleplayer ;) : Skill selection an RPG does not make.
What *does* give BHL roleplaying credentials is the choices you can make in terms of "story" , and that many of those actually matter. Do I play nice and be friendly to everyone? Or freak out at every opportunity and try to kill people? Have that Witch teach me, or turn her in for a bounty? Join the dark side, or support the Mage Academy trying to convince students that their magic is the better way?
While I agree any day that it is not very deep in terms of story or those choices, it is still alot more than most other actions games - even most others that want to be a roleplaying game - offer.
Not bad for a casual hack'n'slash, at least in my book...

They are getting close to releasing a Rogue. Beta tests are happening soon.

IMO it's hard to compare the two games. I have extensively played DQ and I can say without a doubt I love both of these games for different reasons. If anyone hasn't tried Dungeon Quest definitely pick it up. It's free and the IAP in the game is probably the most reasonable I've ever seen in a free game.

Agreed, as good as Legacy is, the party management is what made Battleheart amazing.

Yeah but could they have really made a proper sequel to the first? I don't see much that they could've added besides more levels. I think it was probably best to have two games in the same world that have a different play style. This makes it so that BHL doesn't cancel out BH. Which I think is a good thing, since most sequels end up dominating its predecessor.

Long story short, I'm really hungry. Imma go grab a bite. And they're both good games so I believe one shouldn't replace the other ofc

They could have expanded the roster class-wise from BH, I guess. That game has seen a lot of imitation, so clearly there's a market for that sub-genre. It also might have worked to make the starting party selection a permanent decision like in the original Final Fantasy, and made the rest of the game basically like Legacy is now. Or they could just have done basically the same game but with more story aspects.

Personally, I enjoy Legacy more than BH though, so I don't really think there was an obligation to stick to that formula. It worked well, and so does the formula for Legacy. BH is a pretty hectic game experience and there's about as much screen clutter in this game already as it can get away with.

Not that it matters, but I think people who are looking at this as an "okay APRG" are kind of missing the point of what this game was going for. It's really more like Baldur's Gate where you'd normally play with a mouse.

Couldn't agree more. Party management isn't just about using different powers, it's about dealing with different perks and cons, and having class designs which mean something.

Having this unstoppable one-man-arsenal is getting a little boring, and once you break them down, a lot of skills just boil down to being offensive or defensive cooldowns, with few cross-skills interactions. It's more of a stress reliever at the moment, hacking through enemies while spamming skills.

Is the Frozen Doomspike a dagger or a sword? I can't make it up from the description or the image.

Nevermind, I bought it and it appears to be a dagger
