tempted to buy but isn't it too hectic sometimes? Also it seems only a couple of team selections lead to victory? Just askin'...
Hectic? Team... It's hectic sometimes but in a good and fun way. The worst that happens is you don't notice a character's health is dropping and they die and you may or may not clear the level, but then you can either play a previous level to get more experience and loot or retry the level and not make the same mistake again. There really is no game over or detriment to not clearing a level. As for an optimal team, no way, any team can be successful hence the replayability. Sure it'll be quite tough to win without some sort of healer, but it is not impossible. Different characters means different level of attention you have to pay to them based on their special skills. They've done a great job setting the above up for casual gamers and at the sametime having the arenas for the hardcore players.
First of all, I wouldn't really use the word hectic. Battleheart is really mostly about the battles. And IMO being "hectic" is what makes it fun. Can't imagine finding fun in this game just staring at the screen and tapping from time to time. The "hectic" part in battleheart is having to actively move around units, actively checking which ready skills to activate, actively monitoring the scene to switch targets to heal/attack if necessary. Take note also that this pseudo-micromanagement doens't exactly happen until about the second map in my experience. So there's enough time to really get used to battle mechanics before things get "hectic" on a couple of levels. As for teams, trust me, there are several possibilities. I have been reading this thread and have seen several different parties favored by players. In my case, I found success with a Cleric, Rogue, Barbarian, and Knight. I guess it really depends on your style of play.
Like TiltMyTouch, I never grinded throughout the first map. I guess I'd suggest you replace the other tank with either the rogue or barbarian for more attack power or the bard for more support. From my experience, the knight is a bit underpowered during the first couple of levels so I strongly feel you'll notice a big improvement by just keeping one rather than your duo knight combo for this boss. After that, you could go back to that combo if it really suits your style.
Not sure if this is a bug or just a overlooked flaw, but my wizard just got forced out of the screen and I couldn't select her or move her at all.
i'm sure this has been said b4, but i find it so frustrating when my heroes are on top of each other while fighting. i cannot pick or heal the right person. is mika going to change this to be better? or how to avoid this situation? i try to space them out around the screen, but the melee heroes always end up together.
Got this in the sale, but after a few attempts, am still stuck at the big blob that splits into smaller ones. Any suggestions? I'm just whacking it with a knight up close while using ranged attacks and a healer, but one or possibly two spits at the far away units and they keel over, leaving my little knight to slowly die (and certainly not be able to mop up the little blobs) Nice game, btw. V. Cute for an rpg!
Have your units move away from the goo that the boss spits. Try knocking down the small blobs as well so that you have more time to deal damage to them before they become one again, which results to the big blob having smaller hp (i believe), then rinse and repeat. Hope this helps
Congrats MikaMobile for the well earned success! Well done! I hope the game still does well even after the sale is over.
bought battleheart yesterday, beat it today with monk, cleric, barbarian and witch . Good game, wasnt sure about the 2.99 price tag because its not really the type of game i typically play . When it came to 0.99, i decided to give it a shot. No regrets.
I just finished it with Monk, Wizard, Bard, Cleric... great game that is well worth its (low) price... after beating the final boss, I don't see myself coming back to it, though. Maybe the devs can implement some gameplay elements to enhance long-term motivation. Then, it maybe a candidate for GOTY 2011
just beat the game, and now i'm really sad i really hope new maps or online come out in the future, because as it stands right now, i'm not really motivated to continue playing the game. i will say though that the game is extremely balanced. to all the newcomers to the game, it is definately possible to win the game with any party selection, as long as you have some sort of a healer. i switched from cleric to bard and knight to monk halfway through the game, and still managed to beat it. the bards final ability is amazing btw
