ALL RPGs of any stripe involve leveling. Whether that leveling is a grind or not for you depends upon the intersection of your own personal inclinations as to what clicks for you in game play and the game design itself. Where Battleheart is standing on a narrow line between love, like, or loathe is that, depending on p.o.v., it's either pure awesome or it's nearly pure grind. There is next to zero story and there's only slightly more campaign. The whole game is really one of playing with party tactics. That either works for you, or it doesn't. The reason you see so much praise for BH from former and current MMORPG gamers is that these games are in the same vein: technically, 99% grind but when the games work, the so-called grind is fun. I only play BH in short spells, but I love my time with it and it will probably never be uninstalled, at least not any time in the foreseeable future. It's exactly what the doctor ordered for a busy dad who doesn't have time to spend 6 hours a day playing GW or WoW. 30 minutes with BH and I've got my party design, load out, and battle tactics fix "Beating" and/or "replaying" this game doesn't even register as something relevant in my outlook. The farther I go, the more battle types I have to choose from and the more options to explore, and that's plenty for me.
Some thoughts/ideas....! How about a new skill at lvl 50 or every 10-20 levels after level 30? Something that would certainly help in a possible hell mode or impossible mode? Maybe a new map for the more difficult modes being unlocked and an object from the shop must be bought to unlock the area after the regular map is completed (last boss fought). Also it maybe possible to have an epic system such as finish the game and all the maps and pay a fee to move from easy/normal to hard and after another round of the maps to hell and so on. And for completing each round of maps (all normal completed) or sets of items (trinkets/collectables or weapons) have the party gain an item or ungodly powers (choose from three and it is a random object for any member of the party but specific to one, such a the cleric receives a cloth that when attacked will allow the cleric to phase through the next attack?). So there could be tier 10 or unknown tier items that are available from the boss at the end of the match after completing certain tasks (complete all levels on normal, survive 50 rounds, no not use cleric in all boss battles). I'll stop here before the post turns to a book. I have plenty of other ideas and thoughts as well! Pm me for more!
When you beat the final boss, i know you can get tier 7 & 8 items but can you get tier 9? Also what is the best/easiest way to get tier 8 & 9 items?
Equip them with eggs to boost their XP gains. Its still a grind, but at least there are ways to make it less so. I'm grinding zones just to tackle the last few levels... This has become tedium however, as its no longer my micro management of my team thats helped me progress. I flat out need better numbers to cope with the mobs :O
~ No, the final boss does not drop T9 weapons/armor. No easy way to get them; you have to enter and compete in the Arena. With lots of kills [~70 Doomsvale, ~140 Brightstone] and a little bit of luck, you'll get them.
So... we can't believe how well Battleheart is doing courtesy of the "Game of the Week" feature by Apple, currently #21 app in the US. With the top 10 in firing range, we've decided to do one of our extremely rare sales. Battleheart will be on sale starting now-ish for an insane 99 cents through Saturday only. If you've been on the fence, now's your chance. If you've already played it, tell your friends they're out of excuses! I apologize to anyone who purchased it recently and missed out on this limited-time deal, this kind of exposure took us a little off guard and I honestly had no plans to muck with the price at all, but when opportunity knocks... well, we have to answer! This will be the first AND last time we do a sale.
Had this since it came out so no disappointment on a price drop here, I've had so many hours gameplay out of battleheart it's easily my most played iOS game. A plus side though more sales equals more money for the dev's which can only be good news for updates etc. I Still love battleheart and now lots more people will try it out due to being featured and on sale.
@oooooomonkey : this is the one side of the story. I own this game frome Day 1. I could easily pay much more, I think this is one of the best games in the App Store. BUT the game has this success because many people bought it at its first price. So, how do the developers will THANK these people who bought it at the original price? This is the third game the last month(Legendary Wars, Dungeon defenders the other two) that I bought at $2.99 and after a while they got a huge sale. Anyways, I repeat I really enjoy this game, I never regret after buying a game, especially when it is about such a great one
AAAHHHH!!!!! HALLELLUJAHHHH!!!! now i can get all my friends to get it too!!! YAY!!! sorry, but i love this game
I honestly don't care at all that I paid full price. It was well worth the cost and, as I said, I went and bought ZombieVille and OMG Pirates as well to show support. Hopefully the exposure and boosted sales from the sale will get even more momentum behind the game and its future development.
Grats on the App Store Feature I bought Battleheart based on recommendations and all the buzz on the TouchArcade boards. I fell in love with the game quite quickly and I'm looking forward to whatever else Mika puts in to it. Or a sequel? I'm down for that. Since purchasing it I've heard it plugged all over the place including The Instance (a World of Warcraft podcast) this past week. Grats to Mika and I look forward to whatever you guys do next with Battleheart. Off to plug it on my Facebooks & elsewhere...
Absolutely no need to apologies, this is a superb title. I will spread the word about this terrific little title. Worth every penny... I admit I wasn't a fan of the earlier games, but always loved the art style and this genre of game and excellent control mechanism makes this a must own game.
A smart method would be to give the original buyers free or cheap expansion (if that is possible) on future paid content.
Please don't say this is the 'last time' you do a sale. I know you probably mean it, but frankly, I think you should do whatever it takes to be successful. This is a great game that I paid full price for and have no regrets. Every game goes on sale. Only time I get upset is if it's just a day or two after launch when they haven't even given the game a chance....and when developer's say that they'll never do a sale. Great games deserve attention and, if having a sale gets it, then by all means do it. The more you sell, the more likely you'll be to support the game. Look at EA and Gameloft. Constantly running sales of $6.99/$9.99 apps for $.99. They're successful. So why shouldn't smaller developers do it too. Have no guilt! Bought this at full price. Got Legendary Wars on sale. Happens all the time. As a gamer, you win some and you lose some, but a successful developer has to do what it can to support its apps.
Price I'm usually pissed when an app price gets dropped after i purchase, but seriously I would have gladly payed more than I did for this game. I am glad that I paid 3 because it supports the developers more. So since it was such a success, here's to more levels and content!
I knew waiting for a sale would pay off. Bought, and downloading. Can't wait to see what all the hype is about!
