I think slidetoplay.com just lost some more credit with their newly posted Battleheart Review... They gave it a 3 out of 4 subtracting because "action is a little too single-minded at times; little to do besides fight fight fight." [I know the app description says "frantic real-time battles" but I too secretly hoped it was really just another match 3 puzzle mini-game ] They liked the "funny script; adorable animation and artwork; fast-paced action; great sound effects."
Awesome, thanks Mika! Very interesting numbers. And yeah, I know it's kinda lame to get all number-crunchy about it, but MY TEAM MUST BE PERFECT111 Battleheart is such an incredible game.
Actually, that sounds like a rather fair review. Their list of likes is spot-on, and there IS little to do besides fight fight fight in Battleheart.
Damn you Mika for giving me this many hours of entertainment on my train ride to and from work *shakes fist* I'm not supposed to be spending upwards to 12+ hrs on a mobile device.. who should I file my complaint with? I want my hours back. ~t
Interesting. So, the barbarian attacks twice at half damage each time, but the rouge attacks faster. Seems to be a big nerf o nthe barbarian who gets really no benefit from dual wielding since he attacks slower and the rogue has a proc on hit ability. This makes me feel like how I have them in mind is backwards. The rogue seems to be the +crit class while the barbarian is the +speed class. However, the rogue has a proc on hit while the barbarian has none. Thus, a rogue with speed boosts actually increase his fast attack even more and gives more chance to stun the enemy. The barbarian with crit boost has twice as many chances to crit since he attacks twice (albeit at half damage). Definitely think the barbarian with +crit is the way to go for that class.
Will he have the same shakey hand animation as the skeletons archers? Are you looking to put anything in to help combat the skeleton archers?
While I'm here, this game DESPERATELY needs another dedicated healer class. We have enough characters atm for 3 groups, but only 2 healers. Symmetry is my thing I know a lot of people would be excited about a Druid or some sort of Shaman?
Agreed, but i think the first content patch released should give a hard mode or some more incentive to play. If it is only a new class, it wont spark enough replay value as a hard mode would. but hell imagine if a new class and hardmode were introduced!
yes but i think that the replay value of a hard/hell mode > then replay of leveling a class, especially when we are all sitting with our 40+ t9 party twiddling our thumbs right now. if the ranger comes out before new content what are you gonna do, start a new game, or continue your previous game and level him up with your already leveled party? this isn't a contentious question I'm just curious on what you would do
This is a valid concern, and something I've thought about myself. Adding new classes is definitely something we will do, but should we wait until we have enough to allow pretty much a whole new party to be formed from them? Or wait until we have several classes AND a whole new zone to play them in? Keep in mind that new classes aren't just being added for those who have already played through the game - thousands of people are discovering and playing the game for the first time every day. In a perfect world, I'd like to strike a balance between adding content that pleases new players, as well as those who have already completed the main game, but its hard to do (at least in a timely fashion).
I'd like to see a way to hotkey different teams or groups so that i can easily change between my main group and a group im training. also, I know this has been mentioned a lot, but we need another healer so that I can have new groups with a new healer instead of an over powered one
This is where it hurts that you allow all characters to be used. Otherwise, people would start at square 1 with a brand new party. You could throw in at least 4 new characters, like 2 rangers, another monk and a cleric so people could start at square 1 again with those 4.
There should be class with an ability that lets you bounce back enemy projectiles back at them for 10 seconds.
My single suggestion for this game is to only open up new characters in the Tavern as you level up your existing characters. When the Knight reaches level 5... allow a Monk to be hired at L1, etc. Alternatively, open up new classes as you progress in battles/maps. The key to keeping people playing a game is to always have something else for them to accomplish, whether it be new classes, new battles, or achievements of sorts.
Tetris is "single-minded." And yet it is widely regarded as one of the best games of all time for its gameplay. Battleheart is what it is. I don't think it's fair to fault it for being that. Judge it based upon what it is. But yes, it might be fun to see its gameplay expanded a little, but I would not fault it for not doing so, so long as it does what it does well.
