If you were to decide which one to get (and you could only purchase ONE game), which game would you rather buy? Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3?

Btw, please no comments about "Oh MW3 sucks! BF3 FTW!!!" or "MW3 all the way! F*CK BF3!!!"

Battlefield 3 hands down. First of all because it's not a generic game that comes out EVERY YEAR. Battlefield 2 came out in 2005. Besides, MW3 is pretty much COD 4 Expansion Pack 2!

BF3. I've been bored of playing every CoD since 4, I regret wasting my money now.

Battlefield 3. I don't like how Call of Duty is full of people that fit the teenage-gamer stereotype. They're in both, but Battlefield just... has less.

I'm sorry, what were you saying?

Look, I like both games equally but to say that only COD is oversaturated is just untrue.

Personally I'll get both. I don't understand most hate for COD, except for the fact that yes, every game is like the previous one but only minimally altered. You can't blame IW or Treyarch for that, it is all the doing of Activision. I'm glad that many IW people left, hopefully Respawn can churn out a great game that is unique.

This is a lie too. There are gamers like that in every single game ever made. I don't understand this COD hate argument at all, they put a mute button, party chat, and a friends list in the game for a reason.

Arguments like that are only said by those who are hopping on the COD hate bandwagon that has appeared lately.

No it isn't. When a game hits uber-popularity it attracts a certain crowd in addition to the usual hardcore gaming fan, these people are generally referred to as assholes. They make online gaming a whole load less fun than it would be with a small, loyal and concise group of fans. It's as simple as that. Halo suffers from it, CoD suffers from it and a ton of other games suffer from it, but in varying quantities.

You just said you didn't understand it, so accept you don't understand and keep quiet.

None of this changes the fact the CoD games are just getting boring anyway. You throwing up some list of Battlefield games only proves how right you are about not understanding. Yes the series has a deep and involving history, but each game has a reason for existing other than just being a direct copy of the game before in an attempt to squeeze money out of the simple-minded consumer; unlike another franchise we've been discussing. As soon as they hit the money-making forumla they stuck to it like flies on a turd.

I find some of those "assholes" from CoD hate on every other game that isn't CoD.

If anyone played the story mode for MW and MW2, I'm sure you'll agree it's leagues ahead of any other game in the same category based on that alone...

(including World at War and Black Ops)

That being said, I know most people only play the multiplayer component and even then I prefer Modern Warfare, so hopefully 3 will keep up that level of quality when I buy it.

I like the way you rationalize this fight-:D:D
I have to agree with you.
BUT it seems that almost none of you have played both franchises, they are different type of fps.
    BF3 is more strategy based.
Moreover if you look at COD campaigns, its fastpaced and very unrealistic, too much explosions and all the stuff with it.Very explosive...
Now look at BF3, they totally changed their gameplay, they are the nearest from reality, with extreme graphics and audio+destructible environment.

This year i shall go with BF3 cause i wanna have a change of genre (wont stop me from buying COD):D

P-S; if you disagree just go check Bonus Round on gametrailers.com:D

I actually just finished BFBC2's single player mode the other day, and enjoyed it a whole lot more enjoyable than MW2's. Probably one of the best FPS campaigns I've played, even though it did take a few cues from CoD for it's ridiculous, over-the-top finale. I also appreciated the fair and genuine difficulty level of the harder setting, unlike the cheap endless enemy/grenade spawning CoD likes to throw at the player, turning the game into a mad dash to the next checkpoint rather than anything resembling a firefight.

Yeah cause if you go on rampage in BFbC2 you just destroy EVERYTHING which makes me happy xD
Otherwise I think its weird that in CoD when you shoot with an RPG to someone in a house it has to touch him... in BFBC 2 just blow the house:D:D

  20. Just comparing the trailers for Battlefield and Modern Warfare, Battlefield looks miles better. I was completely blown away when I watched it on a live E3 stream. Modern Warfare on the other hand was not nearly impressive enough.

And, well, obligatory 'Activision are evil' comment.
