That was my problem, I hadn't touched my PS3 in ages, always on my iPhone/PC... So I wound up trading my PS3 for an iPad. Probably the best decision for me, I've had the iPad for only a month and used it 1000x more than my PS3...
I find I use my iPod Touch at my desk mostly anyway, so I could have any console sitting next to me and it'd get played. I buy more iOS games than anything else (obviously) but I still average about one PS3 game a month. I don't think I'd respect myself as a gamer if I didn't know anything about Uncharted 2 or Demons Souls, this is history in the making Off topic: Sword & Sworcery for iPhone tomorrow night! http://www.superbrothers.ca/teletex026.html
Well all the anticipation was getting to me, so I sold my laptop, and ordered a new desktop for BF3! Here's what my NEW specs will be... I should be able to run on MAX settings with no problem! Intel Core i7-960 processor(8MB L2 Cache, 3.20GHz) 12GB DDR3 SDRAM,1333MHZ, 6x2GB ATI Radeon HD5970 2GB 2TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium And a few extra goodies.. Now just gotta save my money for an HD monitor... I guess BC2 will have to keep me occupied til fall... Should receive the PC in about 2 weeks!
5970..meh. I don't like dual GPUs. I'd rather have 2 singles in SLI/CrossFire. Currently I'm using: AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.4 GHz 4GB DDR3-1600 MHz nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 750GB SeaGate Barracuda 7200RPM 550W OCZ Fatal1ty PSU Some Random Realtek Sound Card. I'm fairly confident that I can max it out at 1080p with my current setup.
I think the only recommendation I would give is to maybe bump the ram up 4gb... Other than that you should be good! As for the duel GPU on a single card, yea not a HUGE fan, but the card is pretty boss, and can be overclocked nicely... I may replace the Motherboard in the future and add another 5970 in xfire mode, as I believe it supports it.. I don't believe my new MB will have the correct bridge for it though....
I got an ASUS G73 XT1 a few weeks ago for only $1299, absolute steal. Intel i7 (Sandy Bridge) quad core with 2.0GHz standard, 2.8GHz overclock and 3.4GHz Turboclock nVidia GTX 460m Graphics Card with 1.5GBs of VRAM 1920x1080 17' in screen Blu-ray drive 1 USB 3.0 and 3 USB 2.0 8GB DDR3 RAM at 1333MHz Best laptop I've ever owned!
Saying he should bump his memory from 4-8gb As for the money... I know.. It's a sickening addiction...
I spent $1200 and aside from a few minor upgrades down the line it should last me about 4-5 years... Talk to the Mac owners... THEY spend too much money!
I don't see how we don't get the "true Battlefield experience." Sure, we get less players, and the maps are made a tad smaller, but it's still the same game. The smaller maps just make those 24 people's presence more known. My god, where did this PC elitist attitude come from?
From the developers at Dice... They were the ones who stated that PC will be the better version... "Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach is of the belief that consoles are holding development of PC games back, due to what he feels is an outdated focus by other developers." “Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something,” he said. “I don’t know why. That was the truth five years ago, but the world has moved on. PCs are way more powerful than the consoles today and there are actually almost zero games out there that actually use the benefits of this. “So for our target of what we want to hit, we are now using the more powerful platform to try and prove what we see gaming being in the future rather than using the lowest common denominator, instead of developing it for the consoles and then just adding higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing for the PC version. We’re doing it the other way around, we start with the highest-end technology that we can come up with and then scale it back to the consoles.” Bach said that by using PC as Battlefield 3′s lead platform, console versions of the game will look better as well.
Consoles are pretty much PCs in my opinion, but they're made to game on the TV. PC has the best visuals overall, but for consoles, you have a better multiplayer experience, and what I mean by that is 4-player = 1 Console; PC is generally for 1 person. This "PC elitist attitude" is usually brought up by what I think is "hogging". When games like Crysis 2 came out, PC gamers were frustrated because Crysis was originally made for the PC and only for the PC. I'm a PC gamer myself, but I have an xbox 360 as well (most of my friends have a console, rather than a gaming rig). I'll get on the xbox if any friends of mine would like to play, but I use everything else on the PC (Ex. facebook, youtube, gaming, etc).
Yeap I'll be buying this game for sure(PS3). This game looks and sounds awesome. I think this very well may take over CoD for my go to FPS game. Hopefully I'll have time to play it with all the other great games coming out later this year.
You know, in the beginning I was super excited for this game. And I have no doubt that it'll be awesome. But then I heard DICE/EA/whatever basically say how much better the PC version is and how much the console version is gonna suck in comparison (and it's not like 80% of sales come from console versions... Oh wait...). And then the trash talking about MW3 got way out of hand. Seriously, it really says something about DICE's ego and maturity when the CEO of Activision says that trash talking each others' games is bad for the industry, and DICE responds by mocking him. That is just stupid. This kind of stuff makes me reconsider buying Battlefield 3. I get that consoles aren't as powerful as PCs and therefore can't have as many players or what have you. And I get that competition is part of the industry. But DICE took it way too far. They splintered their fanbase and acted unprofessionally in the face of competition. For now I am still undecided, but one more stupid move and DICE can be sure that I will not be purchasing Battlefield 3. There are plenty of other games that are worth my money this holiday and DICE needs to get off their high horse thinking that they're the best. Am I the only one thinking this way? This kinda stuff just rubs me the wrong way.
