Hey guys, I realise this is an "old" game by AppStore standards now, but I've been playing for the last month or so and really love it. I'm looking for some online games if anyone fancies playing. My GC is SCARYPHARAOH I'm not by any means a world beater, but I love the game. Cheers.

Just got this. Have started as the allies. Seem to get a hammering first go. Can someone explain why I only seem to be able to move one icon per turn. Watching the axis first go he moved two or three icons. Or is it that he was able to attack more than once per turn as as he had icons in allies squares straight away? Only thing I'm a little confused about. Want to grab Desert Fox. I thought I'd get the hang of this one first. Coming from Mac and consoles these games are of equal quality and totally portable on an iPad. Plus cheap compared to Console games.
Plus, the IAP's look to have gone as ALL Generals are available! Yippee... I had already purchased the End Game and Designer Guide, now I have the whole caboodle
I have updated, and there isn't even an option to buy anything, even though it does say there are IAP's in the description. It's no skin of my nose whether you believe me or not; your choice. I have been playing it this afternoon.
I don't know why but somehow i expected this (or was afraid of) but it runs WAY more sluggish than before. They had such a beautiful engine before that run buttersmooth even down to my old 4s.And i just tried it on my Air 2 (with iOS 8.3).Very disappointing. Well, that's at least in line with other Slitherine titles now I'll roll back to the last version.
Total noob help Trying to get into this game. Not played one like it but love the history. So selected allies. Have to wait three turns where I have no control over the outcome. Then some units say they can't move with a red no go symbol on them. This never seems to change I have no idea why. Secondly units that are active are white. If I select one and move it a square cannot work out how to deselect it so I can move another active unit. It seems to stay highlighted even if I press another white unit. So that's where I am so far. It does seem to a beginner that the odds are so weighted against you and the axis get three cracks at you off the bat that you have no chance. What you are left with after there three goes is bugger all.
READ THE RULES. The Axis has three free moves to represent the surprise element. I won't explain any more, just read the rules and try the tutorial. Just noticed that this is the SECOND time you have brought this up....I give up, so should you.
I came here to post the same thing. I finally got some time to sit down with the game last night after updating it. I deleted the game awhile ago but decided to get into multiplayer once I heard slitherine was going to update with their PBEM system. I can't express how disappointed I am. The game is nearly unplayable, and there is really no excuse for it. The game is not graphic intensive at all. I really hoping there is some bug in there causing this and will be fixed in an update. The old version ran perfect on my iPad so I know it's possible. For now I would recommend to not update.
Thanks for that. A little harsh maybe but appropriate. # So got off my arse and watched the 30 minute play through video. So managed to win as the allies first try. At the risk of your wrath only one thing still can't understand. Sometimes when I go to Pass it tells me I still have units to commit but they are all greyed out. What am I missing?
Actually 'pass' means you...'pass'...ie you do not activate any zone. If you activate a zone (touching a unit inside but not even moving) you are actually not technically passing, even if you do not move. You would do so (i.e. activating a zone and not even moving) because 2 consecutive passes means the day is over, and you may do not want it. Of course activating a zone, even when not actually moving any unit, prevent that zone and units to be used for the remains of the day. It's a tactic: you 'sacrifice' moving some units for the rest of the day waiting for your opponent to move first, but without the risk of ending the day all of a sudden. So I assume you actually selected a unit and then pass before pressing UNDO. This is at least how it's worded on the 'old' build...the last update is imho abysmal and I rolled back to the old great Battle of the Bulge and will play there unless the old version is ruined by an OS update or I read the new version is up to the task.
BotB was updated recently with a huge change log. I still have the original pre slitherine version and was wondering if it's safe to update yet? The game never deserved nor needed the previous sloppy update in the first place.
I wonder the same, but I won't update if async notifications (not pbem) aren't there. Still enjoying the 'old' version with many mp games ongoing, still a stellar game. But I'm curious too about the state of the game now.
It does run smoothly again on iPad 3, but I never had the rest of the bugs the change log noted. Just that ridiculous frame rate and performance drop.
