Looks like the Patton counterattack scenario will be $3.99 and the new AIs are $1.99 each. I think I'll spring for the Patton campaign and the "Luck of the Draw" randomizer sounds like it'll add replayability. http://pockettactics.com/2013/05/13/battle-of-the-bulge-counterattacks-with-1-2-update/
I'm a bit skeptical of the IAP considering the initial cost and light content, but we will see. As mentioned, if they prove to be substantial I don't have a problem. Custom game I would have been dead keen for.
Definitely buying the extra scenario. I'll probably spring for the other AI generals too, but I still haven't played all the existing ones under the new advanced AI so I should be sensible and wait before getting those. Excellent game this, the more I play it the more I appreciate it.
Bitter end scenarios vs AI are very aggressive , especially if you're on German side and after allies get air support.I went all in with previous experience of usually poor AI tactic vs Monty , but once he got air support and huge reinforcement wave near the end of game my blitzkrieg was shattered.I did manage to cross Meuse on both south and north and encircle some of his forces in the middle of map , AI had half of his forces out of supply, but once he spearheaded and broke my encirclement with tanks and air support ( and half of my tanks were out of fuel that turn ), I didn't have any more viable forces to mount attacks and had to play defensively. He shattered my strongest 2SS tank division with 2 other that were in Huy at that time even though in previous turn it was a fully reverse situation with me nearly destroying his 3 divisions. Now that my front lines have been shattered, he pushed me back in south to Bastogne ( still have elite tank unit in Given and Dinant to secure more VP even if they are cut out ).I had some infantry and halftracks stationed in Liege for more easy VP.I did manage to stabilize front line in Bastogne and snatch couple of smaller territories down there while reinforcing supply line to Liege with what little I had left. Overall very bitter fight till the end indeed, won but lost most of my tanks.
Completely wiped out German AI from map in bitter end scenario .His downfall was being lured into attacking Eupen for couple of turns to no avail , he redirected his armor units to break in middle then , but it was way too late for that as I had reinforcements in place already.AI did make some effort to push into Bastogne early on, but even that failed for his miserably. His last push effort then went trough Manhay as center was heavily defended and redirected his 3 strong tank divisions to push further in.Anyway , it was pointless as I just redirected some troops from back, cut out those tanks and destroyed them with no losses in second turn. After that, and with air support, it was just one way blitzkrieg on my side as I encircled his troops in smaller pockets and get rid of them with overwhelming reinforcement. He retreated back from Bastogne area like crazy when my tanks division came near, that was funny.Expected much more organized resistance from AI , he was rather dull once I started to blitzkrieg him , but at least he negated me some more VP with holding St Vith until the end.
That "Luck of the Draw" might be enough to get me off the fence...can one also have the AI of the opponent chosen randomly? Knowing which AI you're facing and his general tendencies beforehand takes a bit of the fun out of it for me. Like if the human player didn't already have a big advantage, if I know I'm playing against "Aggressive Joe", I've already got a big heads up on how to counter him.
There does not seem to be any way to pick a random AI opponent in the Battle of the Bulge. I am not the developer.
No, by attempting to answer my question you now ARE the developer! So if I have any questions or complaints I will direct them to you and MAKE YOU fix them as I watch. (thanks for your observations anyways, I was afraid as much)
I just won my first game Race to the Meuse as the Allies in Battle of the Bulge after watching the Youtube video on "Explaining movement and combat in Battle of the Bulge for iPad by Shenandoah Studio". http://youtube.com/watch?v=KKeb1orH83c After watching it, I understood how to interpret the combat odds and that it Spoiler is unnecessary to attack every chance I get ...
No excuse now for me to at least try out the lite version, and CRAP, this is one polosihed puppy! I probably will get the full version but am I right in assuming this game has no stat tracking (like win/loss ratios)?
Glad to see you're liking it so far, yeah it's a very slick production! No stat tracking or win/loss ratio that I'm aware of, it does offer achievements if you're into that.
Just a guess, and although it might be a bit if a "quick and dirty" way to do something, they might just be using the same core app and adding code to block out some of the content as opposed to making a new app with those inaccessible portions left out.
Could anyone who has bought "The Endgame" scenario post a screenshot? I'm curious how it looks like when you start.
Here's the beginning of End Game with the Axis encirclement of Bastogne and Pieper being cut off in Stoudmont, looks like a real clusterF!
OK! With some of the weird stuff coming out lately, I'm relieved this isn't a game about comparing crotch packages. Not much surprises me anymore!
