I see there is lot of interest in BotB here, should we start add-me thread for it, maybe also organize smaller tournaments between forum members just for fun ? My Game Center ID is : [=Aventador=] Feel free to contact me anytime, I'm always for a match !
Shenandoah announced they submitted an update. The following press release: Today we submitted a significant Battle of the Bulge update to the Apple iPad store, version 1.1 we call it. In consists of these items: 1. Game continuation option. When a game ends before December 28th, you have to option to ignore the victory or defeat and continue playing the game until the end December 28th. If both players agree (and are using version 1.1), you can continue the Battle of the Bulge scenario after normal victory determination. Victory will be assessed again at the end of 28 December (You wont earn achievements during overtime play). Some games are so close and quite a few people have asked for this feature. 2. Messages to your opponent. At the end of your turn you have the option to write a short message to your opponent. This is not chat, rather it is a way to personalize each turn with a comment (Cut off your guys at the Meuse, supply rules matter my friend.). 3. AI improvements. Miguel continues to work on the AI making it more aware of supply, specific spaces, and more. AI Generals are more aware of supply and some feints. Decision making bugs fixed and tactical decisions improved. He will also be interviewed this Sunday on AiGameDev.com. They describe the interview this way: Join us for this interview about critically acclaimed iPad strategy game BATTLE OF THE BULGE. Youll hear Miguel Nieves talk about his experience developing a utility-based AI, where it just worked and where it was more work than expected Other topics will include developing AI in short sprints for mobiles, how to approach the design for a board game, and the underlying architecture of the AI itself. Miguel, you continue to amaze. Heres the link: http://aigamedev.com/broadcasts/session-botb/From Miguel: The AI Generals have learned from previous encounters! Thanks to your feedback they have improved their Strategy and Tactics. 4. Bug fixes. Nothing major, but minor fixes in a number of areas. Fixed bugs restoring Tutorial at certain key points.
Shenandoah just placed Battle of the Bulge on sale for $6.99 until the end of the weekend! Pick it up now if you haven't done so yet
I held out as long as I could waiting for a price drop cause $10 is too much! I caved last week, paid my $10 - now it is $7...figures lol. In my opinion after playing this for a few hours I do think $5 would be about right. Yes the AI is very good but this game lacks the depth to play over any period. One map only and is too easy to beat. Maybe if I play online with a real person my opinion can improve.
Anyone up to a MP? I have a lot of GC requests but only 2 ga,es now. I want more. My GCID is griffin611
Just picked this up last night. Been enjoying it so far. The presentation is by far the most impressive I've seen on an iOS title. Great experience so far. Question: in RttM, is it possible to go any route but north? I may be misunderstanding, but it seems that you don't have enough time to get units on the bank of the river anywhere south of their north-supply line in the three days you have. I've managed some pretty solid pushes up the middle, but I run out of time. Just want to make sure I'm not wasting anymore time and that I should be focusing on the north bank. Thanks!
I just installed this. I'll be open to multiplayer requests...but I won't join for a a few days while I get my feet wet, depending on how deep this game is. Axis & Allies Iron Blitz addition took me an hour or so; Panzer General 2 about half a day, Heart of Iron 2-probably a week. Steel Panthers: World at War (matrix addition)? It's been over a decade but it still confuses me . My nickname is Don'tshoot! if you send a friend request, please mention in the message that you are from TA. I'm busy deleting people (damn ios 6 and its stupid challenges) who spam me about campus life and endless roadtrip.
Completed RttM with both, the allied forces and the axis against both leaders. I feel like I'm ready to possibly dive into the main campaign, but wow! This is one of my favorite games already, and I've yet to experience its full potential. Really wanted to tip my hat to the developers for creating this. Thank you!
Great game! I enjoy it a lot but it consumes my ipad(3 generetion) even with the power source connected. Maybe a bug?
I finally played this game (and it does work on iPad 1 with no problems), and enjoyed it quite a bit. One question though.. Each move consisting of "activating a space" kind of feels like it adds an unnatural (not representative of the reality of the war), and kind of boring, constraint (but then again, maybe I'm just bitter I couldn't beat the first scenario yet Anyone who has more experience with this genre who can say why this is a good rule to have? Specifically, why not allow some units in a space to move in one move, and the rest of the units in the space to move on another?
Along that line of thought, why not allow for units to subdivide, so that a platoon can operate as several fireteams so each counter can spawn multiple fireteams. And don't forget the resistance. Let these fireteams recruit the local freedom fighters to build up new platoons. Tank chits should also allow their crew to subdivide and recruit new crew from each territory they pass through and build new tanks, A-team style. Being creative or caustic, you decide... iPadisGreat, playing BOARDGAMES since forever.
Self-doubt: Is my wargaming skill getting rusty? Observation: or my opponents are getting better? It seems that playing Allied now is more hopeless than ever. Statement: The game needs more variations now.
The iPad 3 uses an insane amount of power pushing pixels around that screen. The power adaptor charges it very slowly, much slower than previous iPads. If you use the iPad while charging, the amount of power used is almost always greater than the amount of power recharged, which means it will lose power even though it's recharging. Unlikely to be a bug.
Actually after playing this since the day it came it does appears that given equally skilled opponents the Axis player has the advantage. It's a shame because its an otherwise excellent wargame! There's even an article written about this issue: http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2013/05/09/the-battle-of-the-balance-of-the-battle-of-the-bulge/ In happier news, it looks like an update will hit the App Store soon! Based on a post I just seen: "We are launching an important update to Battle of the Bulge, version 1.2, Monday at 4:00 pm EST. The main additions are in-app purchases of two new scenarios (one is free!), two new personalities, the ability to play the campaign game to the "Bitter End," new achievements, two more biographies, and minor bug fixes." Images of the new "End Game" scenario and other features are availabe here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/avsww34t7pi4qhg/M43FTUnL3Z Not sure where the info came from though.
1.99 $ for every additional AI general that can probably be beaten easily ??? Luck of the draw seems fun though as it has random deployment every time.
