Classic, but goodie Grand Knight Here is another one of my favorites. Can quickly move around and does great damage. This is definitely one to have in your arsenal for any battle.
Wraith Wraith simply because it looks freaking awesome and it has good damage and really good resistances. Waiting For: Battle for Wesnoth
Yep, and while that seems steep compared to most iPhone games, I actually cannot think of a bigger, more fully-featured game in the genre on ANY system. That's not hyperbole. I literally am drawning a blank, and if there IS something, someone please link me to it because I WANT. In terms of campaign length alone, I'd say that Wesnoth is about the same size as the entire long-running Fire Emblem series. Not just one Fire Emblem game - the entire lot of them back-to-back.
I definitely can't think of anything on the Pocket PC or Palm that comes close to this game in scope. And the only reason it seems steep compared to other App Store game prices is because most developers are forced to under-price their software to get cheap iDevice owners to shell out any cash for their games. But then, that's another discussion for entire threads (and I'm sure there are many of them around).
Of course its a lot if you compare it to every game...but if you compare it just to its genre its actually the right price and cheaper than some and obviously as everyone will state a steal with all its content
I did say that while it was more than most iPhone games, it's more than balanced out by the fact that I honestly can't think of a comparable game on any platform (handheld, console or desktop) that has more content. So, yeah. It's a very fair price for what you get, and given that the general upkeep of the game is a large community project, it'll only get better in time.
It truly is a gem of the gaming community. It would be incredible if there were more 'community built' games of the same quality for other genres. I suppose one of the main reasons there aren't is because Wesnoth's genre is resistant to obsolescence - while an FPS can be screwed over when graphics get better, Wesnoth's hexes and turn-based gameplay just don't rely on advanced visual technology to work well.
I'm doing the port, so I get to post another one of my favorites! Walking Corpse Level 0, so no upkeep. Dirt cheap to mass-produce. When enemies are killed, they turn into more corpses for your army! I've won several games by just building up an undead army... Plus.... As I mentioned before, cute little zombie dwarves!!
Reload this Page Battle for Wesnoth - tactical strategy RPG i m going to crazzy after heard this good news, it will be get good rank in gaming zone... just i m waiting for it's launching, i m sure that i'll be purchase this game in what ever the prize. i get full joy with this game so i m ready to spend my time as well money for it
Phew, I'd been away and thought I'd missed the chance to enter the competition. Other than the 'cute little Zombie Dwarves' (Kyle beat me to it).... My favorite has to be the 'Cute Little Zombie Pet Trolls' ..... because they are for life and not just for Christmas ! I can't seem to add the picture, no bonus points for me
Just had a fun week of playing Wesnoth on my PC. This is seriously going to destroy my free time when it comes out. My favorite unit: Elvish Shyde This is a fantastic support unit. If you keep her out of the front lines and protected by other units, she'll keep everyone safe and healthy. With a +8 healing every turn, everyone around her is kept in tip-top shape. She can hold her own if you need to mix up combat a bit and her ability to slow enemies is very, very useful to soften a baddie up before taking it out with a weaker unit.
My favorite unit: Elvish Sharpshooter It's probably not the best unit in terms of usefulness, but it looks great and it's extremely powerful in terms of single attack power...
