Looks amazing! How is the battle system gonna work? Is it going to be similar to Aralon, or, you know, fun?
+100 to that! Can you please divulge some more information about how the GUI and battle system will work? Can't wait to see some video footage of this game in action!!
Some people found it too MMOish. Though it did have hit detection and attacks could be done manually, but I guess that wasn't enough for some. This is looking good, BTW. A big step up from the original.
--> Dev Reply Hey Everyone, Thanks for the replies, very nice to hear from you all. To address the questions, - What will the controls be like? --> We did some heavy research and study by looking at all the games we loved, we took screen shots of all the best views and normalized the angles, the zoom distance, etc... and then thought about where we wanted to be. I would say the perspective and view we are the closest to now, is actually the New Elder Scrolls, Skyrim. When I first saw a screen shot of Skyrim and their camera, I loved it, but didn't know what it was. Then I found out, what a great looking game! So I would say it is similar to that. Let me know what you all think about it. The biggest factor for us, as far as cameras and controls, was the feeling you get while playing the game and exploring. We found that way to many games on the iphone felt small and not so grand, so we wanted you to really get into the game. Our goal was as we walked around the village, it felt big, walking around buildings, or in them needed to be emmersing, and grandiose, and we feel that we have that with our controls! In fact, a little inside information, I made the devs change the movement so many times they almost freaked out on me, but I reminded them of our commitment to quality, we are going to provide the absolute best game we can, and are excited to do so. After each change we have a panel of 10 people that play the new feature and critique it, and these guys are picky! For the combat itself, there is a full inventory, skills attributes and magic engine for the combat, etc... I would compare the combat to a mix of World of Warcraft, Awesome Melee Combos and Mass Effect II currently. Lastly on that, if anyone still wants to be a beta tester, or a critique reviewer for us as we add the new features, please let me know. A few fun items, we added speech to our NPCs, so you can set whether you want the NPCs to show dialogs, or speak and show dialogs. We are having a fantastic time recording all the characters dialogs, etc... *** If you are a voice actor or have a unique voice, and want to be one of the characters, please let me know. AS I see it, you guys on this forum that respond to our information here are my most important people, therefore, let me go out of my way for you and offer you some fun opportunities! - What about long load times?! --> Dont worry, the load times are very quick, we have learned so much about optimizing in this game that not only do our levels load super fast, but we applied the same techniques to our PC games, and kept the same quality, but reduced our file sizes by about 5x! Ok, so thanks for sticking around and listening, I cant just go and leave you without another screenshot, so let me post you something here ... Why do those trolls keep leaving the wagon down here!!?!!? Thanks again everyone, I personally want to thank you for your interest and feedback regarding BattlEternal II, Trevor Chandler Owner and Lead Developer - Tecstar Games
Wow, what an awesome and informative response! Will you be posting up any gameplay videos along with all of these new screenshots? Definitely looking forward to this game!!
--> Dev Reply Macatron, Thanks for replying! We will absolutely be posting video gameplay here shortly. We should even have some up this week now that we believe the controls and cameras, etc... are all pretty much done. Thanks again for writing, Trevor
What'd I say a few posts earlier.. seriously that's awesome. I love TES series. As for testing the current build, I'd be more than glad to help. Question - How can we expect the skills/leveling system to work? By that I mean will there be seperate classes to choose for specific playstyles. Or will it hold further resemblance to Skyrim where you start with the ability to learn everything and build as you progress. Also, how much diversity can we expect in the magic/skills department? Thanks.
Awesome! That is great news! Thanks for being such a responsive and personable developer!! I can't wait to see those videos!
--> Dev Reply Hello all, To answer the questions regarding skills, etc... There will be a somewhat standard leveling system for experience points, levels and attributes, etc... Additionally, there will be a special leveling up system for weapons kind of like runes for death knights in WoW. There will also be a large number of spells in addition to melee attacks that can be used. So at a high level, even now as we continue to develop the lower level systems in the game, we know that we will offer a very nice system allowing people to come up with great variations, certainly enough to allow you to create very custom type advancing of your character. As more development is done in those areas, we will post game play videos and screenshots. I can tell you this, the special effects for the spells look fantastic. We have an artist that is a specialist in those types of effects, so we are letting him go full scale into the creation of awesome looking particle emitters and other effects for the spells, etc... I hope I have answered your question at least a little bit, Thanks again for your interest! - Trevor
I appreciate the quick response. I take it there won't be specific classes to choose from upon starting the game (much how Skyrim is designed, which certainly can't be a bad thing). What about different races to play as? By that I certainly don't mean ethnicity or skin tone.
--> Dev Reply Hello, From what we have so far, I can partially answer with some certainty. As far as classes go, there is a very high probability there will be, for races, I'm not so sure if that will be possible due to the lore and history of the game, but I will give you more on that as we can. What are your thoughts either way as far as races go? Thanks for your questions, Trevor
I asked about races because of the comparison The Elder Scrolls games. If different races (orcs, elves, Khajiits...) don't fit in with the lore Battle Eternal II, not a big deal. When it comes to voice acting, I wouldn't put a huge strain on that to be honest, especially if there are many NPCs to interact with. Maybe just act out the bigger moments or have a dedicated narrator to act out the fantasy lore correctly and have the rest of the NPC interaction in text. Another question though - will the player be able to choose between a male or female character? If so, will NPCs correctly identify your sex when addressing you? Also, I seem to be jumping to conclusions that there will be intractable NPCs in the world. Without spoiling much, how can we expect the storyline and questing to play out? Will there be side quests to divert from the main quest? Will some kid's dog or frog need to be saved in exchange for a fair amount of coin somewhere in the game?
I agree with this. There are many games that use the 2 stick combo for movement/camera, and the camera stick always annoys the hell out of me. swiping on the screen feels so much more natural, responsive and accurate.
More Screen Shots For Battle Eternal II Ok, time for our daily screenshot of Battle Eternal. Please feel free to comment. Your feedback has been awesome!!!! One of our town shots: Thank you for all of your interest and support.
Nice! Now that's crisp. The textures and shadows look great! How big is the town anyway? Are there different shops and stuff to access?
