I sent an email to Handy Games last week and they haven't replied back in regards to the newer phones possibly cropping some of the UI elements with their curved corners. They haven't replied yet. Are you using a newer phone? If so, can you confirm this? Based on the screenshots from the App Store, when viewing them from my XR, it looks to be the case. Let me know when you have a chance. On to the game. Wow! Just wow. It's stunning. I haven't played such a polished rpg on iOS in a long time. Just within the first 5 minutes you can tell this game was made beautifully. The art and animations are the highest point. With some of the smoothest attack animations you'll ever see. Characters have voices (though I only find a couple voices actually good) which increases the immersion. Soundtrack is also really nice. The gameplay battles are extremely fun and that's a huge part of an enjoyable rpg. I like the mechanics and the way mana works. The other notable thing is the UI. It was made remarkably well! Almost every thing feels easy to use and intuitive. Particularly in battle, every thing feels right at home on mobile. I tried experimenting and they had all the gestures I love. Hold down to check skill description, drag skills onto targets or tap on targets to use them, etc. I'm not sure how it compares to PC but it was done great for mobile. Also the inventory system is quite hefty and looks beefy enough to satisfy rpg fans. I love how there's stat tracking as well, which increases replayability. According to some websites, the game is fairly long which makes it all the more worthwhile. I can't recommend this game enough. I'm going to go back to play some more! andsoitgoes, jkluk23, sakara214ever and 1 other person like this. sakara214ever Well-Known Member May 10, 2012 1,262 168 63 #14 sakara214ever, Aug 1, 2019 I agree on EVERYTHING you said. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,404 418 83 #15 L.Lawliet, Aug 1, 2019 I brought up some recommendations to the devs over email (not gameplay related) but unfortunately they did not seem to care for them. Sounds like none of these will be considered. So as much as I like the game, I was a bit disappointed with their response. Oh well, I'll still enjoy it. Here's what I asked for: 1) Could you alter the the app name on the home screen so it's not truncated? I assume you left the whole original app title but I think it would work perfectly as "Battle Chasers" of "Night War". This way we don't have to see a "......." at the end of the game's name since it doesn't fit under the icon. 2) Add an option to disable the intro movie at the start of the game. It's a bit bothersome to have to hold down to skip the intro movie every time the game starts. If it could go straight to the title screen from app launch, the game would be quicker to pick up and play. 3) Lastly, could you disable the visible home bar within the app. It's not an issue with older phones but with new phones, the home bar is persistent on the bottom, inside the app. It should be a fairly easy fix to remove the visible home bar as I've mentioned this before to other devs who got it hidden. I thought these were all very reasonable requests but they just didn't care. Especially the intro bit, seriously, who watches the intro EVERY TIME they open the app. Probably no one. If you did then I apologize. Or rather, even if the intro stays there, WHY do you have to hold down to skip it? I get it's a mechanic but most games that have intros just let you tap through them. Seriously?...... Captain Morgan and andsoitgoes like this. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,949 708 113 England #16 psj3809, Aug 1, 2019 Yeah i think disabling the intro would be good. Dont agree with the app name, think thats a bit OCD I'm tempted to get this. Its based on a comic or something isnt it ? Hows the combat ? Its proper turn based isnt it ? Was hoping it was a proper hack n slash type of combat but it seems quite 'RPG' like. Tempted though anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,122 699 113 #17 anthony78, Aug 1, 2019 Yes, combat is pure turn based JRPG style. So if you don’t like that, this won’t be for you. You do “drag” your action to the recipient of your attack or heal a bit like card games in the genre but it’s a JRPG at heart. But other than the Square games and occasionally good Kemco game, there aren’t many really good premium JRPGs on the App Store. And this is a very good one so I’m happy. Have it in my backlog on Xbox One but am glad to have it on the go. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,404 418 83 #19 L.Lawliet, Aug 1, 2019 Well personally I hate when app names are truncated because there's no reason for it. It just looks bad. If your favorite restaurant looks like a trashy restaurant but still serves good food, you might still go but you'd want them to make the place at least look better. Same principle. Same thing if an app icon looks ugly. Game can still be good but you'd rather it have a pleasant looking icon. Aside from that, truncated app names remind me of the beginning of the app store where there were so many apps filling the store and many didn't know how to fix the names on their app icons so almost all my apps with long names just had "....." all over my home screen. andsoitgoes, Son of Anarchy and sharfaust like this. pathogen541 Well-Known Member Jun 19, 2016 503 355 63 #20 pathogen541, Aug 1, 2019 Making a request of a dev is not a guarantee your request is going to be met. Complaining about a name vs the contents of the game it self seems a bit nit pickey but, who am I to judge. Me personally, this is rad. There aren't enough JRPGs that are worht playing on the app store, unless you want to play the FF games for the 1000th time. The graphics are so clean, the combat system is amazing, and yeah, there is a grind, but this is a JRPG, I feel like we've been around as gamers long enough to know, that's part of the JRPG equation. In fact, I dont know that I can recall, from any series, be it the FF, or DQ, or Persona, you name it, they've all had a pretty significant grind. If you are in to JRPGs at all, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. 40+ hours worth of game, you could easily stretch out to the 50-60. Its a steal. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
