Actually, Slitherine did do a 1/2 price sale on the Battle Academy in-game expansions quite a while ago. That said, when the iPad version outsells the PC version at a 5-to-1 rate, there's no need for a sale!

It's a good thing, Iain and Pip are classy guys, otherwise they could have responded along the lines of, "It's 20 bucks! C'mon. You spend 20 bucks on lunch! Do it!"

    :D

In my mind I know the game is worth more than 20 bucks, but I just waited too much already for a sale just to buy it at full price!

I'm buying BA2 the first day for sure, you can bet! :p

WhooHoo! Husky is now available!! Productivity < 0 now. :)

Question though; what does the option AI: Use Advanced do exactly?

Woo hooo! The BA update is out and O was *finally* able to make the purchase for Operation Husky (so now I have it on my Mac *and* my iPad).

Hey Iain/Pip: Do I get a special reward for buying all the expansions on both platforms?! :D (j/k)

    Off to play some BA!

Hehe i have this same feeling  I probably wouldn't have minded if I picked it up when I came out but now I've been waiting so long that I don't want to spend that much on a game that's not "new".
Silly I know but hey this is the App Store.

Ugh. That's not really a good reason not to get this game. BA is fantastic and it is the best WW2 TBS game on iOS. Period.

You have a long wait for BA2. If you enjoy the genre, why would you deny yourself? If the cost is too high, then I certainly get that, but don't expect BA2 - or Panzer Corps to be cheap either. I also wouldn't expect a sale...ever. As Slitherine have noted, BA on iOS outsells the desktop version 5-to-1!

Don't forget there's a "lite" version of BA so you can check it out for yourself. Frankly, although the iOS version is missing shadows, I almost prefer this version more. I've grown so accustomed the iPad version because of the ease of zooming and turning the view around, that I find myself a bit frustrated with the old-style PC/MAC keyboard and mouse controls!!

I've had my trembling finger on the buy button of this game for a while, I'm gonna buy it anyway, just wondering if someone could say if it still feels "fresh" playing this a year later, after playing Battle of the Buldge, I'm wondering if that'll kill this experience. I just thought I'd chime in after seeing activity on this thread

I have both games and they are completely different; both are excellent. In BotB you're playing a single historically based campaign at the field commander level. In BA, you're playing at the unit level through many campaigns.

Rather than buy it outright, why don't you try it for free:

I would think that would help you make a decision.

Im having a continuous crash out at the start of Mission 2 on Husky (Beach Landing). Every time I reload the save (First thing I did was save it once it moved on from the map screen) it crashes out after 1 or 2 seconds. Im going to delete the save and try it again, but wanted to give you a heads-up in case its a problem that affects a number of peeps!

Playing the demo didn't help, now I just want the game more. I need to top up my iTunes first so I can get the game and some expansions while this sale is going on.

Well, actually, playing the demo did help! You got to see the game, and you were able to see the difference between BotB and BA! Totally different games, really. You can also see why BA on the iPad is a "must have" game if you enjoy the genre at all!

Thanks for the report. We have had some vague reports about iPad 4 issues, but haven't been able to pin down the cause. The stream of new HW and OS updates certainly keeps us on our toes!

I will look into it and see what the problem might be.

    Cheers

Just added another great new mod to the official download list. Fortified Line is a multiplayer mission with tons of custom features.

+ Leaders can rally and drill units.
+ Engineers can place smoke, remove tank traps, and place pontoons.
+ Leader can rally units if a line of sight exist.
+ Sherman and other tanks can use smoke discharges to protect themselves.
+ Sherman Rhino may breach hedgerows and remove tank traps.
+ Artillery on board has indirect fire smoke capability.

There is even a tactics document from the designer!

    Enjoy!

Just fired up multiplayer for the first time since the last update. Love all the little UI tweaks you've added. Wasn't expecting the swap units command to appear in all the older scenarios, that's great.

Also, I have to re-state my thanks for the constant support for this game. I haven't had a chance to buy the latest IAP campaign yet, but I still get six new multiplayer maps for free in the base game. That premium pricetag buys premium support and updates.

Can't wait to see what you guys do with the 40k license.

    @Iain & Pip:

Any update on Panzer Corps for the iPad? Do you still think a Q2 2013 target is reasonable?

    Just curious.

It's probably a little optimistic. We will definitely keep you updated on progress - there is a very early version running, but still lots of work to do!

Pip - thanks for the update. Given the publicly announced project workload for Slitherine (across all platforms) and the lack of news about the Panzer Corps iOS project, I suspected this was moving slower than hoped. I'm glad to get some confirmation.

I guess we'll look forward to some Panzer Corps iOS news after the summer!

Naturally, I'll be staying tuned for this and other exciting Slitherine announcements!
