If you ask me they should have tried implementing the console game's fighting system somehow, instead of copying IB. Even without the open world it could still have been a great game, considering how popular Arkham Asylum/City's challenge maps are. The combat in Arkham Asylum was initially supposed to be rhythm based anyway, so maybe they could have focused on that aspect in order to modify it for a touch screen device.
EDIT: Whoops nevermind I just watched the vid Sanuku posted, and this looks pretty bad. I will be buying IB II then. Does anything think that maybe Rocksteady didn't make this, or that they didn't want to release it. It was probably Warner Bros. decision to release this, so don't go trashing Rocksteady on something they probably didn't have a whole lot of control over. (Thanks Sanuku for the heads up)
So you've played this extensively enough to make that judgement? In the few hours it's been out? Have you played it at all?
I'm going to say no since clearly he doesn't know that rocksteady actually had NOTHING to do with the development.
Nope, I'm making a critical judgement based on the facts I've been given. Is that not how human beings are expected to make decisions? If we go with the theory that nobody can possibly have an opinion about something without first spending money on it and finding out for themselves, we'd all be completely broke. Imagine if the same rules went for buying Lamborghinis as well. The dealer informs you it's an utterly dreadful car, but you're not allowed to mirror the sentiment without first spending $600,000 on it to experience it for yourself. The entire point of screenshots, videos, forum threads and the like is to give people who haven't played the game a taster of what it involves in order to try and convince them it's worth buying. If it doesn't do that, it's not the consumers fault in the slightest and they have every right to express their concerns. I haven't read the whole topic, but all of what I read came across as honest opinions rather than mindless trolling for the sake of hating on the game. I was actually referring to Warner Bros. with that statement, but I acknowledge it wasn't clear enough.
This is a flawed argument. If the game does not have a demo and hasn't been released to half the world yet, it is quite obvious that he hasn't played the game. And, aside from throwing away $6 on a game that looks pretty, but plays like a Batman licensed clone of Infinity Blade, there's no way to play "extensively" without pirating the game or buying it. However, that doesn't really matter. In lieu of a free demo, the ONLY thing we ever have to make our buying decision is videos and user reviews. So far, the videos and user reviews have not been positive. a.) I don't know how this is different from any other game (that doesn't have a free demo). And, b.) This is THE reason a threaded discussion forum like TA exists...to discuss, good or bad, the iOS market.
Your luxury car analogy was so facile I won't really go there, but as a self-proclaimed "reviewer" I hope you are more open-minded in that capacity.
a) just because your impression of the video isn't positive doesn't make it so for everyone. b) there have been VERY few actual impressions to this point by people who have PLAYED THE GAME. c) I'm well aware of the purpose of threaded sites, thanks, I'm simply adding a voice of patience to the people crucifying this barely released game before more than 2 or 3 people post about it.
It's not really self-proclaimed when someone else offers you money to do it. The analogy doesn't only apply to luxury cars, I was obviously using an extreme example to drive home (lolz pun) the point about wasting money. It'd still work on something cheaper... say, iPhone games? I just think it's odd that you essentially tried to deny people their right not to like something, that's all. This thread is basically a huge advertisement for people who haven't played the game, so the rule really shouldn't be "If you haven't played it, shut up... oh, unless you think it looks good".
You're adding a voice of patience by telling people that they cannot voice their own opinion. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. They can even post their opinion on the Internet. Crazy, I know, but true. You've got the wrong job if you feel like people should be well versed about a game before they should be allowed to post their opinion.
I'm really finding the game so good. And different in mechanichs than IB.. My only questions does it have variation in attacks and does it gets hard? From the video it appears easy and lack of attacks.. Big Thanks you to Sanuku for his awesome and rapid videos.. Do u have a YouTube channel or what??
Perhaps I'm missing something. I'm reading back just to make sure...nope. Sure doesn't seem like I'm telling people not to voice their opinions. I never even implied it. Can you kindly show me where I told people not to voice their opinion? This issue goes beyond this game. Often, a NZ thread is swarmed with impulsive impressions (both good and bad) based off of a video (which admittedly can be quite helpful...Sanuku is the bomb, no doubt about it) or a couple of people's opinions. Sometimes this turns into hyperbole before most people have had a chance to play it. I was simply cautioning about this phenomenon. The game may turn out to be crap. It may not. I'm going to try for myself and make my own judgement.
Thanks for the video! I have one queston though, if you happen to know yet: do harley quinn, ivy, catwoman, clayface, ra`s al ghul appear in the game?
I have no idea, because I haven't continued playing from the point where I ended the video (now, back to six-guns...)
This whole discussion is pointless. People are going to post their opinion about a game whether they played it extensively or not. That is the nature of this forum. However, I'll play along... You posted the following post in response to MidianGTX's post below... The tone of this post essentially says that MidianGTX shouldn't be allowed to make his own conclusion about the game and post it on the Internet without extensively playing that game. Whether you intended the post to come off like that or not, that is how I interpreted it. It also appears that MidianGTX interpreted it in a similar manner based upon his response. But, let's take a look at Midian's post, shall we? Nothing. His post was based on his opinion gathered from the videos that he obviously watched. It's not what he hoped. Maybe "he" was a better pronoun to use than "we". Not everybody speaks English fluently. We're not supposed to criticise other members use of English, but maybe he could have chosen his words a little better; however, it's no reason to berate him. He does not need to have played the game extensively to see from the video that it's not the game he had hoped it would be. Nearly half a million to be exact. And, most of them are well under $6. Again, he does not need to have extensively play-tested the game to come to this conclusion. Again, true. Batman. Everybody loves Batman, right? (Extensive play not required!) "Appears". Key word. He doesn't say it is cloning. He doesn't say that in his experience he would define the game as a clone. He says it "appears" to be cloning. Draw your own conclusion, but what I read from that is that it's Midian's opinion. Cheap throwaway title. Harsh words, yes, but certainly Midian is allowed to say what he wants. He's trying to decide whether to pay $6 for a game. I don't think that extensive playing should be a requirement for having an oponion about a game and voicing said opinion on a forum. Nothing is going to change because we had this conversation. I don't even know why I cared enough to post something this long about this issue. Maybe I was just put-off by a moderator telling a member that he shouldn't post his opinion until he extensively playtested a game that isn't available for most of the world. Anyway, enough of this. Let's just get back to discussing the game...good or bad.
I was reading this over and over again, dude you got some serious skills in speech, not like the most people on here wH0 taLk l1k d1S
