Well played this game a bit, and i must say that i like it! sure it would have been nice to roam around the city, and use stealth to kill enemies etc. , but it`s okay as it is! The game is pretty easy, but fun! This will be updated soon, as the extras in the menu show adding 2 new bosses: Harely Quinn and Poison Ivy! Hopefully they`ll add more content but who knows!
okay got the game and it's decent. it's not as bad as all the disappointment makes it sound. good: easy to pick up and play, simple interface, cool look/feel, boss fights are awesome not so great: gameplay not complex, not a lot of fight animations, not enough unique features, lacking armor customization, map is limited to just picking a spot and going to that area
Nope, not JB and never has been. Only thing could be the # of apps I have installed causing the problem (like IBII) maybe?
I think it's your ios. Like how 5+ firmware = app/game problems. That's a confirmed issue with ios5 which is why i've never upgraded. That's probably another reason IB2 doesn't work. I definitely don't buy that too many apps crap they said about IB2
iOS 5 is here to stay and, good or bad, it won't go away (not until iOS 6 makes an appearance, anyway). It may not be perfect, but I'm sure Apple will release fixes in due course. In the meantime, it is up to developers to ensure their apps run properly on iOS 5. There are plenty of apps and games that do run just fine under iOS 5 so I see no reason why some should not.
except that's the huge documented case. if you look up app histories, you'll see a majority of updates are "ios5 optimizations" meaning they have a lot of issues. some games that even appear to work may wipe your save files or won't get past the title screen. also there's a concern of older games. people who have old games that aren't going to be touched anymore by devs won't be "optimized" and many just won't work. ios5 is a failure in that huge amounts of applications need to be fixed in order to work properly. some devs don't care and once they have your money they won't bother fixing anything. because it's on ios, the severity of the problems get masked quite well. imagine the same scenario on a PS3 where they force firmware updates. if that happened everyone would be up in arms and angry. and imagine all the people that have old games that won't work anymore. again, ios5 is more trouble than it's worth. the old versions are far superior.
Nah it's always been like that, when iOS 4 came out there were also heaps of game with 'iOS 4 optimisation' update. Apple even highlighted which apps are iOS 4 optimised for multitasking and all that. If you're happy with iOS 4 and miss out on iOS 5 features, then stay. Or if you're jailbroken, you can get some of those features anyway (and might explain your reluctance to upgrade). No one is forcing you to upgrade.
It's a good game. Not a great game - simplistic but pretty well executed, the graphics are great and I think it's worth five bucks if you're a Batman fan. Some of the extra's are nice too, like the Arkham City comics etc. A good level-up system and the promise of updates...seems fine to me.
except they will eventually force you to update or you won't get any new applications in the future. well in comparison, ios5 optimization is a lot worse than ios4 and the backlash has been worse. and for the record, a majority of old (really old ones) apps will work for sure on ios4. on 5 that's definitely not the same case. you really wont hear anyone talking about an old ios app that wont run because he upgraded to ios4. and yes i do have a jb to do things like back up my save files which obviously aren't safe with ios5 yet. case in point, IB2 - one of the biggest games ever that has a huge chance of not working or deleting your save file in ios5, usually when you're hours into the game. and i wasn't forcing anyone to go to ios4 i was just explaining the situation so they know the facts. you sound almost offended. anyways... back to the topic. I think the game is decent but without a sale you probably should give it a second thought. however for some it may be worth the tag because it's most definitely not a bad game at all.
It doesn't look like a great game, but then I don't think it's a bad game either. It's Joe Average in a Batman costume I'll pick it up eventually, just not right now. I have plenty of other games to keep me busy in the meantime
I hesitate to write about this too much, since for some inexplicable reason it has garnered some intense debate, but suffice to say that I enjoy the game. I think they did a very nice job with the license. I appreciate that they focused on making one core element done well, instead of trying to make a watered-down version of a "full-console" experience. I have absolutely no regrets, and have already had 6 bucks worth of enjoyment out of it. This being said, obviously some people aren't having the same experience. Fair enough. For the "real deal", I have my 50 dollar Arkham City on xbox. If I want to smack some thugs around on the go, I've got my 6 dollar Lockdown.
I couldn't possibly disagree more. iOS5 has been one of the best updates yet. They've finally included features that should have been there from the beginning. I keep a rather large selection of old and new games on my phone and have yet to actually run into any significant issues. These types of updates all happened after iOS4 was released as well, so let's not forget that.
Well said - I've only got as far as beating Two Face but I've enjoyed every minute so far. The boss battles seem to add good variety, the fights are actually fairly strategic, the gadgets and level-ups are cool. I'm surprised the reaction to this has generally been so negative. It's not like this was hyped up to be Arkham City/Asylum for iOS - in fact it's not like this was hyped at all, the first we knew about it was yesterday. For $5 it's a solid Batman game.
Does it have iCloud saves? I hesitate to buy anymore universal games that don't support this feature.
Just an updated, I deleted and re-installed the app from my computer and rebooted and it seems to work now. It's okay so far. It plays good and the first few fights were pretty interesting, but I could see how this could get repetitive. I'm hoping there's more diversity with the hench men in later levels, I think that's what's doing it.
Great Mobile Batman Experience! Got it and love it so far! It's like having a little slice of Arkham City in my pocket to tide me over when I'm waiting for a meeting to start or something. It's definitely a lot like Infinity Blade in the Batman universe, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It really can't be compared to a full PC game though. For a mobile game, it's fun and exciting enough for me.
Well said, sizzlakalonji! I totally agree. I'm excited to finish up work/filming today so I can get home and play both!
I watched the gameplay trailer earlier and combat does look quite repetitive; there seems to be a very limited number of moves and all the bad guys seem to fight in the same manner, with the same, limited set of moves. As someone who does not own the game yet, is that a fair observation? I was hoping for more variety in combat.
I suppose that's fair to a point. Honestly, there isn't a lot of difference in the fighting styles in the console version either. This isn't to say that the combat system in AC isn't great, because it is. In the first map level of AC:L I fought against guys with fists, metal bars, and guns. They all involved slightly different strategies to fight. I was also able to steer my batarang using tilt to disarm thugs and Two Face. I additionally chose Wayne Tech that called upon a swarm of bats and electrified my gauntlets. I frequently used both dodging and counter moves depending on the situation. Since it's only combat, it can be considered repetitive, but then again I suppose so can Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.
