Just loaded up Bardbarian again for the first time since the update hit, and damn am i really impressed with Insane mode! It's almost like bullet-hell, but tailored to suit perfectly the mechanics involved in Bardbarian. I gotta say im also quite surprised as to how Endless mode was implemented. I think it was a much better approach to call it Runner Mode or Escape Mode. It's quite an enjoyable mode, and it is a game of its own, but it obviously isnt the endless mode fans are looking for. As mentioned previously, my Storm Knight only has 5 upgrade stars too, regardless of difficulty modes, while everything else has 6. The innate doubler includer in insane mode is a GENIUS implementation. These devs know how it can possibly get a little boring grinding away again when you restart the game from scratch, so they added this feature which is just fantastic in every angle, and also balances out the difficulty spike. Overall, this update is just fantastic, and pushes Bardbarian as the fourth game considered in my Games of the Year 2014 list.
Wow, that's pretty awesome that you got that far. What was your team setup? I can't seem to get that far at all and all of my people are fully upgraded.
Took me a little while to figure out something that worked. At first I had the same problems you did. Ultimately the defense spell is the big game changer. My "end game" configuration before this was typically 1 necromancer with the rest being storm knights, so the zombies could act as both a shield and be used for high damage on tough enemies. Then I would use the Attack spell whenever a tough enemy showed up. However, this was just not working after a few waves of Day 2. What I ended up doing was 2-3 tanks and then 6-7 storm knights. Then the trick is to spam the defense spell whenever you're in a tough spot. Fully upgraded, the defense spell reduces damage to only 5% so you can really take a beating without losing anyone. Your raccoon will bring bacon occasionally to keep you healthy. If you are fully upgraded on note generation, you should have no problem keeping the defense spell active at all times after you hit your unit cap, so you should focus the first few waves on getting up to your 9-cap limit before using spells. The tanks in front get to reflect the bullet-hell that you see in the later waves of Day 2 and those reflected shots do HUGE damage. You have to be REALLY careful though, because if the the shield wears off suddenly it only takes a couple shots to kill you or your followers, so you have to be very aware to back off when you feel your shield will wear out. For a little while I was stuck on the bull charger + kamikaze wave (wave after first boss) but then I realized that I should just be using the defense spell and then running into the kamikaze guys. There's just no way to kill them all fast enough before they reach the gem. So anyway, still can't get past the second boss wave because of the crash I'm getting. Honestly, the defense spell seems way overpowered now that I've actually started using it. Edit: Not sure if this is related, but I also noticed that my "Scores" buttons (the star next to each game mode) don't do anything.
Thank's for noticing That's exactly what we were going for, by the time you get to Insane, we think you've had enough grinding, and it's all about skill at this point, so we thought it would work best if we give you a ton of gold.
From my previous post on last page: So...isn't Day 2 supposed to be endless? When I beat the second boss wave (2 ogres + 4 or 5 fire golems I think?), it tries to move to the next wave (it shows the little "map" and me moving to the next wave) but then the game freezes for a couple seconds, then it kicks me back to the store suddenly. There's a small blip of a screen that I think is the "You beat the game!" shot with Brad riding the t-rex, but it flies by within a split second. It's done this to me twice in a row.
At the risk of being redundant, I just wanted to pop in and lay praise for Bardbarian. I started playing it again after a break and I'm just amazed how much you get for so little investment. Of course I bought the golden axe which is helpful, but the extra modes add variety and an avenue to gain plenty of gold. Tons of upgrades, plenty of diverse and interesting units and bitchin melodic metal riffs make this a permanent game on my device. Bardbarian is most excellent.
I bought some of the coin packages on here, and later deleted the game. I was able to restore my golden axe, but I noticed I did not receive the coins again. Is there a way for me to get my coins back?
Permanent IAP can be restored. Consumables can't, because you'd be able to restore coins and such things infinitely or on multiple devices to multiply them. Sorry, your coins are gone unless you have a backed up save file (in iTunes on your computer, or iCloud; however, I don't know if this game has iCloud saves as I don't use iCloud).
I really love the game but I need help. I don't know how to kill the wave 20 boss. I kill wave after wave that the dragon dude unleashes on me but my attacks with the ninja dudes don't affect him at all. Essentially, how do you beat wave 20 boss? Thanks. Again, love the game.
Spoiler shoot his bombs back to him. If he gets hit by his own bombs, the rider falls off, and that when he takes damage. Rinse, repeat.
Yeah... Hopefully they handle it nicely, and hopefully it'll get the attention it deserves so the game can grow even more!
