I don't think my coin doubler is working properly..Just played a game forgot what wave i got up to but scored 7,000 coins and it only went up extra to 7,200 shouldn't it be 14,000?

I just downloaded Bardbarian because it looked like a fun comedic game with amusing art design and a lot of positive buzz... instead I find an auto-fire "dual stick shooter" (one stick) with tower defense emphasis. Interweaving these elements is clever from a game design perspective but as a player I'm not too fond of the whole auto-fire bit and wish it felt more interactive. The mobile tower defense/offense twist feels really fresh for a tower defense game, if you like that genre and the buffs seems smartly implemented - it feels well thought out but maybe just not my style. Also, it's annoying how survival mode doesn't seem to reward gold and how unlocks are tied to consumable currency tied to (perhaps optional) IAP rather than exclusively based on game performance (this sounds like a BulkyPix trademark). Maybe I'm overlooking something but I don't "get it" yet, I wish there was a more active control scheme. I followed Bardbarian in the pre-release thread so want to like it more than I do. Ok... back to play some more and see if it gets better.

You do earn currency from survival, and still I think that currency is more than generously dished out. I don't think you'll have any problems with earning it, so I don't think IAPs will be a worry

I'd be interested to see your later impressions
(Fingers crossed they're positive! Otherwise JAOs may get a bad rep early on D:

Thanks, I don't necessarily mean to imply the IAP system in Bardbarian is unfair - I'm not sure yet.

It doubles the coins as they are dropped, so that sounds like it's working right.

Rather than focus on aiming (which is kinda a stale mechanic these days, in our opinion), we thought it would be more interesting to focus on different party combinations, resource management, and the use of your various skills.

You're still highly active, but rather than worry about aiming, you worry about which buffs to use, when to activate your stun solo, and most of all dodging your ass off! At high levels, it's a pretty hectic experience with little margin for error.

This allowed us to have quite a few cool support units, that wouldn't necessarily work if they were expected to always shoot where you are aiming.

Anyways, hope it gets better for ya :)

Any chance of you uploading it to testflight for me? I haven't been playing now for days because I don't want to play with the debug log up when it's not for any purpose.

Sucks that they won't expedite I thought each new app release gets an exposures update for bug fixes ect

Excellent game. Went ahead and bought the coin doubler (gold axe) as well. Makes the game a bit easier but no less fun. Just let's me progress a bit faster, but not pay to win at all.

Have experienced one or two freezes transitioning back to the shops/town after completing an attempt. Maybe because I'm playing on an iPhone 5, not a 5s, but maybe a bug?

Still a great game. Worth 4/4.5 stars.

Finally got this. Really enjoying it, more challenging than I expected. Even died a few times on the first wave. Responsive touch controls and a lot of strategy due to mixing up your team and different upgrades. The idea of upgrading the town to help you out adds nicely to the feel and character of the game.

Did you try logging out of Game Center as mentioned earlier in the thread?

Downloading now and thank you very much it's appreciated. As for the guy a few posts above I believe the fix for waves not showing up is fixed in this update that should be live on the store in the next few days.

I believe they said it was if you gained certain achievements that were trying to input over 100% complete it messed the game up with freezes ect

I've quite enjoyed this game. I love pick up and play games with upgradable characters/bases etc.

One thing, I tried using the defensive buff song for the first time and it never wore off. Made me pretty much unkillable... I used it right before I killed a boss and the next wave started, so maybe it skipped resetting.

Yep you're right, there was a bug where, if you kill a boss, while buffed, then the buff stays on. That's been fixed as well in the latest.

the latest version has some optimizations that reduce memory use, so it's possible it might run, but I don't have a test device to verify. Short of that, we'd need to generate a whole new set of low-res textures to get it to run on there, and that's not really in the cards in the short-term.

If you want to join the testflight team, I can send you the latest build so you can check for yourself.

In the meantime, we've updated the description to warn iPod 4 and iPad 1 users not to download.
    Cheers,

I've been playing the latest build on my iPod 4.
Loading screen crashes still happen regularly and I can no longer get story mode to load at all no matter how many times I try.

However, I can get into Survival and Endless and both modes are running smooth. In the previous version I would get major stuttering after selecting Try Again in survival, that stuttering no longer happens.

If an update ever comes that will have the whole game running smooth on my device, I will buy that coin doubler without hesitation. Until then, Survival mode is more than enough to keep me happy. Keep up the good work!

Agreed. What really sucked about this whole thing was the dev said it would worked on iPod 4 but it didn't because the dev didn't know the difference between iPod and iPhone 4.. But if they're gonna support it sooner or later.. I wouldn't mind in the slightest
