The guys at PocketTactics just posted a 5 star review: https://www.pockettactics.com/reviews/barbearian/
I was seriously going to say something similar in my first post but forgot. As weird as it may sound, I love destructible trees, bushes, etc. in games. Especially when there’s a chance they contain loot. Lots of trees and bushes in Barbearian
Ok. Hesitant at £9 (I know, I know, it’s just a big chunk of my weekly budget) but the reviews have sold me. Buybuybuybuybuy!
well I bought it and redownloaded Drift n Drive at the same time because I’d forgotten about it. All I’ve been playing for the last hour is D and D.....
Tip for those who want to zoom in a little; you can go into settings and change it. I have it set at 120% and makes a big difference. Also, there is definitely some strategy involved and not just a straight up button masher. It's good to try and look around a bit to plan your attack. One of the things that I like doing is to hack open one of the gates, move out of the way to let my minions handle, and then enter from a different gate. If there is anything you need to destroy, this clears the majority of enemies out.
Use hit & run tactics. The attack where you rush through enemies is vital to success. Don't use it until you get large groups of enemies to line up so you can inflict maximum damage. Don't engage with bosses 1 on 1. Clear out the little enemies, then get the boss to fight with your troops, while they are preoccupied walk up behind them and hack away. Take down the mortar turrets as soon as possible.. until they are taken out don't stop moving anywhere within their range.
It is a bit different to what I think people are used to on the mobile platform, but I'm sure you can get a hang of it with a bit of time! There's also some difficulty options in the Accessibility menu if you want to tone it down for your own play style!
Trust me i suck at this game. But use the tactics @ducat111 said above amd you will succeed. Also buy all the upgrades-weapons you can.
If you like this game, consider the steam version too. It is a little discounted to celebrate its launch.
This is brilliant so far. I only had time to play a couple of stages during lunch, but it's running silky smooth (although tiny) on my ancient iPhone 6. Looking forward to trying it on my iPad Air 2 with wireless controller. If there's a DRM-free Windows version available, I'll totally double dip and buy that too.
For anyone passing by this thread with interest in the game who have reservations due to the price, send me a pm. As long as you live in the United States, I’ll buy the game for you.
