Hi, It is a shame this got changed as there was just something about the Frogman concept, the Banzai Rabbit just does not feel very interesting. Still looks nice but may have gone from a must buy for me. David
Hey David, Fair enough each to their own In Banzai's defence he's twice the hero Frogman ever was lol. As it's the same game it's a shame you won't be checking it out - for better or worse there are no other games remotely similar in the store. Actually the change in character and name was very much to distance ourselves from the mis-perception that this is the same as Frogger or the myriad of frog-related titles out there. Trust me in terms of actual gameplay the rabbit hole goes a lot deeper than that All the best!
Hi, I may still pick this up, probably just down the road a little bit. Hope it does well as I am a big fan of Cobra Command. David
As was said, it's the same game, they just changed the characters. But believe me, you'll be missing out if you pass this up. This ain't yo' daddy's Frogger.
ROTFL yes indeed she should! But then we once had a pretty sweet swimsuit app in the store and alas that is no more so we went with homely just to be safe lol Even then there is something vaguely not quite right about a rabbit and a human love interest - I don't like to think about it too much
I have to concur... I think I've been obsessed about this release because I was obsessed about frogger as an 80s pre-teen, and so "frogman" really seemed right on. now with the rabbit, yeah still looking forward to it (soon?) and especially with that generous promo code coming (don't make us wait, k, RC?)... But still wish it were that frog. ☹ besides, rabbits eat my garden so it's hard for them to be heroes, cutish as they are. was this a trademark issue as well or really just intended to distance the game from other frog games? if the latter, i can't see how there would be much confusion, given how different it is from all the others.
I believe they just felt it was better simply not to take the risk in the first place. They may have been able to skate around the legal edges of the issue, but why take that chance? Especially when this really isn't Frogger. It's certainly inspired by it, but it goes quite a ways beyond it -- and the game hasn't changed, just the characters.
I like the change. I loved Frogger as a kid but Konami has done nothing to evolve the series. If anything they have taken a few leaps back. So, when I first read about Frogman my first thought was how stale the Frogger francise has become. Konami should have paid these guys to reinvent Frogger.
That probably would have been a great idea. Og knows their last "update" to Frogger was totally phoned in. And by "phoned in" I mean "drunk-dialed."
@ Revolutionary Concepts - This is kind of off subject and not really important; but your site (http://www.revolutionaryconcepts.net/) still has "Frogman" screenshot art and icon. And on the "News" section of your site you state that it was approved and in the App-Store June 10th 2010. Is this true, or will it be sooner?
Locked and loaded! Coming to the App Store WEDNESDAY 9th Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
