Wondering... What device are you playing the game on? I'm using an iPhone 5. I was thinking about getting an iPad 4, just to try it out lol.
Is that what all of you are talking about? This game is very frustrating to us average players cause we only average about 50 or less coins. I'm really trying to like this game cause it is fun, but I die so quickly, and the game in that perspective just seems to be about inapps. I realize you top 100 gamecenter champs probably think this game is too easy, but I don't consider myself a beginning player, and I am still having problems, to the point of being frustrated and thinking this game was a waste of my money. Going to give it another try with this treetops hidden jumping feature. Will be back again to see if it helps. But never realized I could jump up from the vines. It should be put into a tutorial, cause I think almost all players will miss it. Before, I kept on trying to swipe down when jumping, and I would die, making it even more frustrating. I might as well ask for somekind of easy mode in an update and retina ipad too. Could use some kind of button control too. Anyway, I will give this game one more chance after watching this video.
Trust me... I was in your boat since the game was released, until last night. I already knew the jumping techniques, but didn't even know that the tree tops even existed. I'm far from being very good at the game, but I'm doing a LOT better already, and have upgraded several power-ups a few lvls. Don't go so far as to get ALL the bananas, trust me on this lol. Get the easy ones on the main level, and you'll last a lot longer without needless deaths. The toucan and boar are a super easy way to get a decent amount of 'nanas, and then going up to the tree tops will get them, as well as increase your distance runs. I'm extremely happy with the game. It gives a decent challenge to build strategies for gaining "money" and distance. I'm at 5,516 now, and luckily, I'm in the top 100 @97! You can do it, trust me. I still die regularly at less than 500m lol. It's those damned bananas enticing me to get them! lol. Keep at it.
Definitely avoid the cave if you can that's a death trap. As for dashing on the vines I thought that was in the tutorial or maybe it was just a mission that said to do it which I then figured out, don't remember which.
Missions provided the "here's how to" in order to access the Treetops and Cave.... I also recall reading in the game about the swipe down and flowers... SO this game teaches you most of the stuff, IN THE MISSIONS.... those not looking to complete mission or those that ignore them are the ones that will get trouble... At fisrt I saw ppl here talking about caves, boars, treetops and giraffes and I was completely lost... but after completing a few missions I saw the "Power Dash while holding into a vine" mission and also saw a "Power Dash into Wooden Entrance" Im still lost as to why ppl keep complaining about not knowing how to get to these if the game's missions are the tutorials ._.
I don't follow the missions. If I had, and I would have learned a lot more "basics", then it was my fault completely.
I've been doing the missions since the very beginning, and not once have had the swipe down to jump higher explained. I heard about it here in a post from the Dev. Either you recall incorrectly, or the missions are random. If its the latter, it's a problem, as you can play for a long time trying to complete the harder missions, especially if you don't know about the swipe down mechanic. Judging from the amount of dissatisfied posts from players who didn't know about the important gameplay element, there's something missing in the game in regards to properly explaining the mechanics of the game. It's definitely something that should be explained to the player very early. Also, even if the mechanics is explained through the missions, you only see the missions for a few seconds after you die, and even then, only if you've completed one of them. The only other way to access the missions is on the main screen, which I see very seldom, as the game is paused in the background on my iPad most of the time. All in all, the developer ought to make a comprehensive, easy to access tutorial to avoid unsatisfied customers, especially those that don't frequent these forums and might advise friends to avoid the game, thinking its too much of a grind.
Very good post. I think this is the best way it can be explained. I'm loving the game, period. There are always ways to improve things, and I can barely wait for an update that brings more to the game. Excellent post, and an excellent game. Love'in it.
Yeah, I forgot about that, but it seems like a lot of people would benefit from a clearer heads up on the swipe down to jump higher mechanic... Are the missions random?
What's the status on iCloud usage? I just went and got an iPad 4, and would love to continue there instead of starting over.
We're close. Lots of cases to be thought of and tested.. It's quite complicated to implement iCloud properly.
Thanks for the info. So, for now, I just have two game instances basically. No way to get the save data over to the iPad? Another note... here are some screens from my progress.
Any update on the data loss fix? I emailed support as well, but am really frustrated because I lose my data constantly and it's just about pointless for me to upgrade anything. Don't know why it's not a more prevalent issue. But it happens every day on my 3GS (running 5.1.1). And it's getting really old.
I was able to transfer my date from my 4S to my ipad mini using ifunbox. I didnt want to start from scratch as i have already maxed out toucan and it took a while to grind for those... Once you have those, grinding was a bit lighter then.
