There isn't anything that is as good BG, but you could check out Dungeon Hunter HD, and Underworlds for now. Also in the upcoming games is Pocket Rpg which looks promising. Hope that helps
Thanks, already finished those 2 titles. Man these companies really need to get with it. All those old bioware games would be heaven on the iPad, and they could make some good $$$ porting them over. I figure they would have done this by now. Maybe we need to start a petition or something
The Shadow Sun is not exactly what you're looking for, but it's being made by Aland Miranda's company. Miranda, as you sure know, produced Baldur's Gate II. FEATURES: * Enter a story full of complex characters, intrigue, danger, and shocking surprises. * Explore the decadent imperial city of Shar and the exotic desert lands around it. * Battle enemies using magical powers and dozens of weapons. * Play as male or female with a character system that allows you to evolve your characters abilities exactly how you want. * Ally with one of several companions to adventure with and fight alongside. * Make your role-playing choices wisely through dialogue or action, and become either a hero or a villain.
I'm not sure which you mean--the PC and console BG games play totally differently--I much prefer the PC games. Assuming that is what you meant, I remember Rimelands having a REAL strong BG feel, and highly suggest picking it up.
There is an emulator that could be ported with apples approval probably that could play infinity engine games: http://digg.com/news/technology/GemRB_infinity_engine_emulator It's already been ported to Mac os x.
Actually I just found out someone got it on iPad already: http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=20872
I didn't say it couldn't, but watching the video it has a lot of work, not the least of which is sound, or lack of it.
Interesting Idea That is a really interesting idea. I'm certain Alan's game (The Shadow Sun) will be outstanding and I'll be one of the first to line up and buy it. But, there is something to be said for getting a fix of old school isometric RPG. -Trent
Wow, that is awesome! Would that work on an iphone? (and would it even be worth it with such a small screen) I posted on Bioware's forums a while back saying BG should be ported to the iOS. Never got a response from Bioware, but some other players agreed. I'm actually working on getting a multiplayer party based RPG developed for web and mobile. If all goes well, it will be out by next summer. Just need to get funded...
I dunno if this thread is still of interest for you guys, but our game Companions was compared to Baldur's Gate quite often (I wouldn't have thought of it to be honest ). there's a lite version out, so you can check out the game! have fun!
