There's no save issues as far as I'm aware.. As to bugs, I wouldn't say it's bugs galore, the only one I'm aware of at the present is the werewolf quest and the scrolling issue in the shops. There might be other quests affected by bugs later in the game, but I haven't read about any really serious ones on their forums. As far as RPG's go, you can't really do any better than this one. Just do yourself the favor and read their forums for new players. It's an unforgiving game and a bit tough for the inexperienced player. With that I mean inexperienced in AD&D games and old school RPG's in general.
Yeah - as far as RPGs go, really - it's the ported ones that are *the* RPGs to get on the AppStore. No mobile RPG can compete with the likes of Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, the Final Fantasy's, the Spiderweb ported games. There are some bugs to work out, and we might sound like whining kids (as evidenced by an earlier post ) - but it's only because we love this game too much and want it to be better, especially for new players who will just start experiencing them on their iPads.
For tooltip, hold your finger on any icon for a second or two, release, and it'll show you the description of the item/skill/spell. I don't know if the slider for the tool tip delay works for this though, it might be a leftover from the PC version. They could have found a more elegant solution for this, I would have preferred a quick double tap for tool tips, but this is the solution they chose.
I've just started the first game and I'm still finding my way around the GUI. Don't know what the spells are for is there a way of getting a description of what the spell does? Next how do I put spells on the bar so I can use them in battle? Are the battles all real time or can I stop and pause? As I said still finding my way around so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Hold you paw on the spell description when it is in the spell book for a description. Hold the quick spell button with your paw to then select a hot spell. You can (and should) pause often. Int the feedback menu you can set when auto pause activates. I have it on for enemy sighted and trap spotted. Hope that helps.
Also the item description in shops .. The scroll wheel to move down to read the text doesn't work. Thanks
Thanks very much. I'm going to like this a lot once I get used to the GUI. My ranger got killed is there any way to revive him?
Actually, you can totally revive your characters. You either need : - A cleric able to cast level 5 spells (level 9+ Cleric if I'm not mistaken) - To go to a temple and pay for a resurrection spell (cost depends on the level of the character you wish to revive).

Decisions on which version to buy... Hey guys, I'm having a hard time deciding which version of BG2:EE to buy... The iPad one or the PC one. I have never played the game before, but have beaten Dragon's Age: Origins (if that counts). Any suggestions as to which of the two versions shall I try?
The PC version is the definitive version- Better controls, more modability. That said, the opportunity to play BG2 in bed or on the bus is a major boon and so I give it points for that. Its really up to you, but it was designed as a PC game and Beamdog really didn't do very much to adapt it to the strengths of the iPad.
One advice that'll make a big difference is to go through the options in the game, and select when you want the game to auto pause, choose a difficulty level and other stuff that'll effect the gameplay. On a difficulty set lower than default, your party will heal completely when resting, (as long as they aren't interrupted), but on higher difficulty, they may not heal all the way, depending on the severity of their wounds. Resting in a cheap room in an inn or choosing an expensive one will also be different in the amount of healing done on higher difficulty levels. Also, on higher difficulty levels, a die throw will decide the amount of HP you get when when you level up, but on lower difficulty settings you'll get the highest amount. Luckily, you'll be able to change the difficulty level at all times in the game. I play on a higher difficulty level, but before I level my characters, I change it down a notch to allow my characters the best results when leveling up. Completing that, I slide the difficulty slider back up. And, please, save often, and in different slots, don't rely only on auto saves and quick saves.
^this But if your char got shredded into pieces (which happens here and there) then there isn't any chance to revive him. You will realize it if the picture of this char on the right side is gone. Otherwise it's just greyed out.
Has anybody else encountered the character portrait bar bug? If you tap the top of the bar, your character portraits will retract. BUT if you don't expand them again before you enter a new area, the tab that expands them disappears forever. I had to go back to an old save to keep playing.
Many thanks fir taking the time to assist me. I've gone through the options and made the adjustments. I have about 3 save files in case of problems. Is there any order toplaying the fame? I'm playing the first chapter.
You have no choice but to go through the chapters in order. An annoyance for someone who want's to do the final chapter first, I imagine.
I imagine you're talking about the first screen in the game. There you can choose between the original "Baldur'e Game - Shadows of Amn", the expansion pack "Throne of Baal" and "The Black Pits II". Play Shadows of Amn first and follow up with the expansion pack Throne of Baal. The Black Pits is a gauntlet style game where you roll a complete party and fight through a series of battles. I haven't played that myself yet, but it's not a part of the original game, and is very different and serves as a complement to the game where the focus is on battles and not story and adventure.
