I agree, If making the game for touchscreen, a few tweaks should be done. Scrolling exclusive through scroll bars is bad. The scrolling in every list should work like scrolling in any app usually do; you just drag it.
Thanks a lot.. I was given 3 options at the start shadow amm throne of Baal and black pit.. Which one should I start? So even if I play the original I still start at a level determine by the game? I can't import my character from original? If I can I might get the original lol
I don't think people know what a game breaking bug is anymore. One optional quest out of hundreds doesn't work and now people are saying don't buy the game or I won't play until is fixed? Here's a brilliant thought, skip this quest and after you spend 100 hours doing other stuff you won't even remember about it. I can't believe that some people's expectations are so high that they are willing to dismiss the whole game because of one minor bug, your loss
You start at level 6, which is the highest level in BG1. It is possible to import your character from the first game. I've detailed a thorough guide on how to do that a couple of pages back. EDIT I forgot to mention, the main game is Shadows of Amn, the expansion is Throne of Baal and the Black Pit is a standalone gauntlet of sorts Beamdog have made especially for this version.
One reason I didn't purchase this app at release just like the last time there were quite a few bugs with BG. Guess the folks don't believe in testing the app vs release and fix later. I'll wait until things are fixed.
There's nowhere near the amount of bugs in BG2:EE as there was in the original release of BG:EE. This game is much, much smoother overall, likewise the latest patch for BG:EE have solved all the glaring faults with the touch interface, except for the scroll bug in shops. In a game with hundreds of quests and hundreds of potential hours there's bound to be a bug here and there. It cannot be compared with an iOS release where the code is a tiny amount compared to this game...
Me too, I'll wait. I bought BG right after this last patch, thinking that the bad things I read about would for the most part be fixed. Having owned both BG and BG2 on the PC, I briefly went through the tutorial and it locked up several times, lost its place several times, and several items failed to work. I don't support companies that leave bugs and move on to the next abortion in the making. I'm really fed up with that mentality. I am constantly looking for a good RPG, strategy, or adventure game that is good and NOT drenched in IAP's and/or bugs. So far I'm still looking... I'm using an iPad 4 with iOS 7.0.4.
Just started playing the game... Oh my god I spent like 1 hour rolling for the stats and got overwhelmed by the classes I can choose.. This is all too confusing ended up getting a thief class lol.. The graphics nice... I hope the game is enjoyable... Pretty good start so far
I know what you mean! I can literally spend the whole day just rolling stats (hoping for at least a 90+ total, ), and different race / class combinations! That's why the Black Pits expansions are enjoyable as well - you get to create your whole party of six! Six times the stat-rolling, character creation enjoyment!
Got it, thanks! It is very hard to register on an iPad Mini Retina though, probably because the arrows are smaller.
It is literally the first quest you walk into once you get out of the intro dungeon and one of the very few quests you can't leave. It breaks the game, trapping you in a location with monsters that one hit kill your party. How is that not a game breaking bug? Its certainly not a game stopping bug, which would be more on the lines of a hardcrash. But it is game breaking- It breaks the game. You can absolutely skip the quest, but unless you have a save from before you enter the tent, you're SOL. I had to roll a whole new game and do the intro dungeon all over again. Further, this isn't just a 'quest', it gives you a great party member who is essential for party balance unless you rolled a mage as your main.
LOL - don't worry Rinoa, it's not even required. As long as you have high ability scores for your class's primary attributes you should be fine. (i.e. Fighter-types: STR, CON, and DEX secondary; Priest - WIS; etc.) Of course, bringing the other abilities higher because you still have points available wouldn't hurt. They increase different things - look into this site for a good breakdown and explanation of each. www.playithardcore.com/
All of that said, I'd still advise buying this if you like Baldur's Gate 2. I played the heck out of this game when I was a kid. Its wonderful to have it on the iPad, even if it has some serious rough edges. All the bugs will never be ironed out- Jump in and have fun. Just avoid the circus tent. I think the problem is that new players are getting a pretty gnarly introduction to the game- Wonked scroll bars, bugged quests and a UI that's barely been updated for iOS aren't signs of a great conversion. But fi you're willing to fight with it a little bit, there's a truly epic, magical adventure in here for you.
I'm with you on this one - even the shop item descriptions bug will present itself from the start.. So how did it pass testing?
You don't need all your characters to die before the game ends; if you main character is killed that's all it takes, so, try keeping him back a bit ie try different formation or different position. Regarding the buy screen, what is so hard about having to tap the scroll bar to be able to see all the items? I have played both games, and am playing them again on the iPad; I buy very few items as most can be picked up on route. Too many childish complaints, just enjoy the game and quit the whinging. Give yourself a break.
Never heard about that werewolf bug. These are illusions, if you don't attack them, they deal zero damage. Just kill the shadows, then go upstairs and you'll be fine.
