I used to start BB2 as a Kensai and then multi class immediately to a wizard and then power level by learning high level spells.

Soon I would be able to function properly in both classes.

Thanks Larni. I just created the Kensai and will plan on that once I hit level 2. Also planning to import him into BB2...if it's ever approved

A comment on their forum suggested it wouldn't be till the second week of January as they are apparently out of the office at the moment.

I got tired of waiting and sick of the lack of updates from Beamdog and repurchased the Big Bioware Bundle on GOG, I bet I'll be finished it again before it gets released for my iPad.

But you will still get Baldurs Gate 2 on the iPad once it is released right?

Then you would have seen that prankster's post proclaiming that BG2 had been released, not.

Spend an hour or so finding all the Tomes hidden throughout BGEE. They will permanently raise each attribute by 1.

You know I always played these games as a Human Bard, thinking about trying it as a Barbarian or Cleric this time.

They'd basically have to remake the game and code that in to make that happen. Retrofitting achievements into older complex games is no small task! It's not simply plugins that can be shoved into games made with older coding function calls and architecture...

...so, I suspect that with BG2 finally out it's time to restart BG1?

I played it a bit when it was first released on the iPad, then after the first update. Still, I struggled too much with the controls, especially in the combats, and I ended up becoming frustrated.

I know there was an update a couple of weeks ago (maybe around Christmas?).

Did that improve the controls significantly - or at all?

I honestly want to like this game, because it does seem to have all I would love in one. I also didn't play it when it was first around on PCs, since my PC was not that powerful, so...

Any tips would be extremely appreciated. Especially for combat, since I feel I keep on trying to hit things but I'm not sure if the actions were really engaged or not.

-- in that sense, and please don't hate, I do feel that Jeff Vogel's Avadon & the like do play a bit better on the touch screen than the last time I experienced BG1EE on the iPad.

    Cheers.

The recent major update addressed a huge number of issues and concerns in terms of content, controls and features, but you'd have to try the new version yourself to see if it addressed specific problems you had with the game's earlier incarnation.

    Thanks Appletini.

I also concede it might be me. Any specific tips on combat and how to actually make it work, other than tapping the screen like a madman and hoping something actually happens?

I have a long flight up in a couple of weeks, I'll take it with me and see how it goes.

Set the auto pause to pause when an enemy or trap is sighted and pause often to re issue orders. Set the AI appropriately (in the Customise - Script tab), too.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks Larni for the reply.

Two questions if I may, then (I'm trying to remember what I felt frustrated about):
    - Is there a visual indicator that an order has been registered, and what order?
    - When we have multiple enemies, after I finish one, should I then pause again and select a new one, rinse and repeat? I remember the battle with the rats in one of the houses in the beginning of the game was frustrating, not from a difficulty standpoint (it was quite easy), but from an interaction standpoint. I sometimes thought I had given an order, but the character did nothing. :l

Thanks, and hope you're enjoying BG2 if you got it!

To see if an order registered (especially if you have the AI turned off), look at the character portraits on the right of the screen. It will display a small icon of the attack type used on the individual character portraits. I hope that makes sense and helps.

It certainly does, thank you very much.

Let's see if my next attempt at playing this works better then :)

    Thanks all!
