For someone that never played the game previously, I'm still one update behind and absolutely loved the game. Those holding out should enjoy it now at a great price and take advantage of the patch when available.

Game is still incredible as us.

Glad I snagged this one at $4.99 a classic, wish the touch point for NPC monsters etc. was the whole sprite not just their feet.

1st time player. I held off getting this because I wasn't ready to give it the attention it deserved. Just reached the 1st inn and loving it.

So nice to see all the BG first-timers having a blast with this game. :)

Looks like the patch is finally coming down around halloween. Of course, the Apple review process will probably add another week or so.

And then the week after that, Baldur's Gate 2!

Now I'm gnashing my teeth. I still have to finish BG1. But I want to play BG2...

Patch 1.2 is live right now... for PC and Mac. The update for the iPad version has been submitted to Apple, so it should hit for us within the next couple of weeks.

Beamdog has expressed interest in porting/enhancing other infinity engine games, but I'm sure the big questions are whether it will actually be commercially viable and whether they can navigate the licensing minefield. We saw what that almost did to their Baldur's Gate project.

Personally, I think I'd rather see them get to work on new games. They already have the Infinity Engine modernized, enhanced, and less buggy than its ever been. And I think the added content to BG:EE proves they have the chops to build quality content for it. The question is whether they have the resources to scale up that effort.

I think we will see it in the next couple of days, maybe even later today.
It was submitted to Apple Nov. 1 and there's no mention of it being rejected on Beamdog's website.

Well latest Beamdog tweet mentions that the latest patch is back in development so we won't be seeing anytime soon. LOL! See what I mean? :D

Yeah, I just read the tweets.
Apparently they found some bugs, and it's back in development.
Dang it, I really thought the release would go smoother this time.

I guess I'm an optimist at heart...

That is disappointing to hear, been waiting for it for sooo long. At least they are working on the last bugs instead of sending out a buggy patch just to appease the masses. I think once the patch goes live, a lot of people will jump off the fence they have been sitting on and buy this game at full price if they haven't already.

Here's the latest on the delay of the upcoming patch:

We are still working on the iPad BGEE 1.2 patch. We need to fix some bugs which emerged when we changed the UI input system to use OS level input calls as opposed to our previous use of raw input events. We also need to get the save game/character importing/exporting working on the tablets before we can roll 1.2 as the updates are huge and I'm certain everyone loves downloading 2GB updates to the iPad as much as I do.
Honestly, it will not happen overnight, but we are currently actively working on the iPad build and we hope we can make rapid progress. After that, BG2:EE on iPad and then on to Android. Our team is quite small and we only have so much bandwidth to execute. We are also working with a massive codebase (in excess of 1 million lines of code when we started)

Great that they're working on export/import. Gonna want that working for the transition to BG2.

    Yeah.
Some sort of cloud support have been eagerly anticipated ever since the initial release day.

Also, since the touch input on BG:EE was a bit iffy, I'm thinking the "iOS level input calls" vs. 'raw input" may be a good thing.
Only thing is, I don't know what it means... :)

    Can someone enlighten me?

I'm just guessing but the touch inputs for the game may have been repurposed mouse inputs. iOS inputs are made for reading thumb touches.

But I could be talking out of my arse.
