Fair enough I guess but my ipad2 runs all my other games fine, I suspect if it was faulty it would not. I was only trying to avoid other people being as annoyed and frustrated as I am but ok, I take your point. One point though, a lot of nice people have suggested ideas for me, it would have been nice for the devs to at least comment on this problem, surely I cannot be the only ipad2 owner with this problem.
Alas, I'm afraid that you are. I've been following the official forums religiously since the release and even before, and no one there have had any issues at all with the game on the iPad 2. Why your iPad plays other games and not this one is a mystery to me too, but the fact is that the game runs fine on the iPad 2 for others.
Thanks for that. That's quite depressing, I'm wondering if theres an app I can download to scan or check my ipad2 hardware for problems?
Have you tried the quick and easy soft reboot or hard reboot? Soft reboot. Hold down power button until a red swipe button appears at the top of the screen. Swipe it. Spinner appears in the middle of screen. Once screen is blank, iPad has shut down. Hold down power button until the Apple logo appears to restart it. Hard reboot. Hold down power button and menu button until the Apple logo appears. See if it helps?
Yeah, I tried both several times. Even did a 'erase all contents and settings' Haha, not doing that in a hurry again, it took me days to get everything back on and working.
Just wanted to say as an iPad 2 owner that the only time I have issues is after dying, and occasionally having the app crash when trying to load a new game. Only other issue is that if I just close the iPad shut the app will sometimes close all the way and I need to restart the app at the last save Overall , totally playable and only occasional slowdown during busy combat About 50 hours in and the very best iOS experience I've ever had
If one particular app is crashing every five minutes, you might try making an appointment to take it to an Apple Store and show them. It's not impossible they would either run some diagnostics there, or just give you a new replacement device. At the very least, I bet they would get you a refund for the app purchase.
No need to do that. Just backup to iTunes and do a restore. This will reload everything, including the OS firmware (just doing "erase all contents and settings" does not reload any of the firmware), in case anything is messed up. After the restore you can reload your backup. This fixes many problems a lot of the time. That's what they would tell you to do first at an Apple store, anyway, so if you do take it to a store it'd be helpful to tell them you tried that first.
There's an update. Annoyingly I think rather than update files its downloading the entire 2gb again. That's soo annoying when you're on a very limiting bandwidth cap.
Mene: I have followed your saga here since the beginning of the thread, and I am sad that it still hasn't been fixed. I would try out DaviddesJ's suggestion - it might actually be a very good one. Given that it is only happening to you, some might obscure things you might want to troubleshoot are: - will it still crash in airplane mode? What about if you log out of Game Center? What if you're both logged out of Game Center and in airplane mode? - do you have any accessibility settings enabled? Which ones? What about restrictions? - what language is your iPad running in? Now that it's clear that it is a very isolated problem, it is time to try to understand what exactly in your system might be making BG crash. I think someone mentioned in another thread - or maybe this one - something about a "system monitor" app, something to get some logs from crashes? Maybe if you'd post them here after a crash, and/or send them to the devs, it could help troubleshoot your specific case. That being said, I don't know what kind of information is logged, so you might want to open the file first in your computer and see if there's no personal data there. Let us all know - I'm pretty sure that, as long as you give people here something to work with, we would love to help. It's just that after the initial rounds of unsuccessful triage, and so many cases where there are no problems, it really makes it hard for anyone not to consider your case as the exception. And do not take it as an offense by anyone! Cheers, and looking forward to getting more info from you.
Thank you! A lot of great ideas there, I will let you know how it goes, I'm still downloading this update. I'm sure an apple store would be a great idea, sadly there isn't one in my town to my knowledge. One thing I have noticed is that the 'graphics' options are unavailable, that button doesn't work, I'm not sure if its the same for everyone or that is linked in some way to my problems. Thanks again, btw the airplane mode is something I've not tried! I will do.
someone tested the update already? any big changes to UI or general gameplay? I started the update this morning, but can't play until tomorrow... After a hard time getting into it I really like it now. I tried it on PC a few years ago but never got far because I just wasn't patient enough.
There's no options under 'Graphics' on the iPad version, so that's normal. I'm very curious to what is causing your problems. Please let us know if you somehow solve it.
Pretty sure not all games work like this. For example GTA VC updates tend to be pretty small, or at least they download quite quickly.
Let's see what we can get to. Do you have any of tho other options turned on on the device, the accessibility ones for larger fonts, or something to that effect? You can just check that menu out on settings, mine are all turned off, as I believe that's the default. Also, anyone knows what the log tool is? I believe it was called "system monitor", but it was a long time ago, so my memory can certainly be failing me since I only really read about it. Cheers!
I have no accessibility settings on that I know of, default fonts too. I got the update today, turned on airplane mode and started a new game. I played for 50 mins!!!! NO CRASH! Now.. Did the new update fix my problem or is it because I put it in airplane mode? I do not know, and I'm too nervous to turn it off and risk it going wrong again.
Glad to hear Mene got the game working, I understand the situation he's in since I had a similar problem in the past. I was playing Assassin's creed on the Xbox and had a lot problems with graphic glitches and artifacts. I went to the official forum and went on about my problems thinking there's no way I was the only one having those issues, and then my thread got deleted and I was warned to stop spamming/trolling. You can understand my frustration at that point, I was quite upset toward Ubisoft not believing me. Then two days later my Xbox died. Anyway, I'm also playing on an iPad2 and I'm almost done, only one crash and lots of minor bugs, before the patches that is.
Glad to hear you're making progress, Mene. It might be a lucky streak, or it might be because either the airplane mode or the update helps. Who knows? In the past, airplane mode helped me with my iPad 1 memory problems on some more demanding games - Magic the Gathering was famous for having a permanent crash when playing a specific mode on the iPad 1. However, turning on airplane mode when playing the game would make it run fine, because there's no memory consumption from the network protocols, constant monitoring, etc. it might be minimal, but it did work then - that's why I had brought up the possibility of it helping you. I'm wondering, do you have the 3G model, or just the wifi one? Either way, happy adventuring! Let us know how that goes
Hi, I have the wifi ipad2 (32gb) I'm very happy to report that the game is running fine! I've not had a single crash since I got the update and turned on airplane mode when I play. Thanks all for your help
