so... is it good to go now with the patch? wanted it for christmas but waited until they fix the bugs you can read about everywhere. I don't need an absolutely perfect, bugless game, but I do want to leave buildings without trying a lot of times and such annoying things did they improve the touch UI? did they ease NPC interaction, formations and AI?
You let your 3 year old talk to you like that? If it was mine it would get a major talking to for using 'weirdo', we have enough anti-social kids roaming the streets as it is.
I think your use of the word "it" was the most illuminating thing here Anyhoo, the update has improved this game substantially. Clicking on loot drops and doors is very easy, thus the game is much more playable.
Hehe. I am under no illusion of who is boss in my house, and it's certainly not me. Any dad with a daughter knows what I'm talking about. One thing I still find is still an issue (at least for me) is when I scroll on the iPad I tend to select where I'm scrolling as the destination for my party (usually by accident). It still seems a little sensitive to the touch (unless its just my fat fingers).
Yeah, that's still a problem. The developers are aware of it, and I'm sure it's going to get fixed in a future update. I, too was hoping for a bit more iPad specific fixes, but the most important one, the targeting doors and loot, have been substantially improved. The game is much more enjoyable now.
As far as the developer say, it's running on iPad 1, but due to the low memory on the iPad 1, one should save often and be prepared for frequent crashes.
Touch UI is great now, in regards to hidden doorways and picking up loot etc. What was wrong with NPC interaction before? Formations is not improved in this patch. AI have always been an issue in BG, it's always best to change to a different AI setting or make your own, which is possible from the character screen.
Why would it be about piracy? If it supported 5.1.1, you would have people using 5.+ AND 6.+ buying the game. And some people using 5.+ would certainly pirate it. As it is, no one on 5.+ will buy OR pirate the game, and it doesn't change the situation for 6.+ users. it's not like a 6.+ user can install a pirated game just because it can be installed on 5.+. In other words...math, people! Even if 90% of 5.+ users installed a pirated version (and there is no way it would be that high, not on iOS), you would STILL have more copies sold because 6.0 users have to purchase the app anyway. Don't tell me anyone believed Madfinger (those are the Dead Trigger devs, right)? A Freemium was blatantly built into that game at release.
that's good to know. with NPC interaction I actually meant formations and overall AI. I read that the party often does not really do what you tell them to do, so your mage keeps standing in the front acting as a tank. I don't know if this is a enhaced edition problem. I started playing BG some years ago but didn't really get into it. want to give it another try now
Good thing I'm not having too many problems with the game as I don't have enough space to install the patch! With the game installed I have 3.7GB yet that's apparently not enough Not so much a complaint about the game as the way iOS handles installs and updates but that is really, really stupid.
Does no one update from their PC? You can side step the issue of unwrapping/installing space requirement when updating from PC in most cases. In any case that's what I did...
Overhaul is planning on introducing some kind of cloud save feature so that you can continue your game on different devices. Such a feature would also allow for easy imports between BG1 and BG2. It's funny, I've worked so hard learning to hit tiny tap targets in this game, and now I have to train myself to avoid those tap targets unless I really want to hit them. It's really hard to, say, move next to a chest without looting it.
I know you can now select objects and doors a lot easier now but how are hidden doorways better? Do they now show up when you use the magnifying glass?
That would be ideal, but no. They are easier to find simply because the smart radius feature means you just have to tap near the exit to find it, rather than directly on it. So rather than tapping repeatedly around a house to find a door, just a few taps should find one if there's a door to be found. If you aren't actually looking for a door, nothing in this patch is going to help you realize it's there.
How about clicking at the barrel right bottom, and it highlights everything you can interact with... had no problems finding anything
That won't highlight hidden doorways, such as building entrances that are behind the building or sewer entrances in the city. It also doesn't highlight everything you can interact with, such as building signs. This will be a bigger problem in BG2 with important quest objects that are drawn into the background.
