You cast your spells by clicking on the Cast A Spell button at the bottom (with your Mage selected) then selecting one of the spells, the clicking on a target. You don't open your spell book in battle, it's only for memorizing spells before resting.
Anyone notice slowdown when npcs cast that green entangle spell. Movement is very slow, you can tell its the game. Im talking about non effected party members also. I have ipad 4 . Oh yeah i want to ask but if i kick some party members or just go with what i think i should do am i in danger of screwing Up the ability to finish the game? Im also confused about buying weapons. I tend to get weapons im proficient in. And that do the most damage like two handed swords. Also i look at price of its more expensive its better 90 percent of the time. Like two handed sword vs bastard sword +1. I would take bastard sword cause its faster. Even though technically it may do less damage im hitting more. Am i thinking right here? I know thaco and that stuff, but the bottom line please what do you do bout equipment? My fighter is lev 1 got a two handed sword and platemail. Sound normal?
What blurry text?? It's clear and sharp on both my iPad 2 and iPad 3... This I really don't get... Maybe it could have been bigger fonts, but blurry? No.
Hello there, I'm enjoying the game so far a trip to the old days ... But I'm having real issues trying to get into rooms or houses.... I open the door and try to step inside but nothing happens so I have to get out and try again and again... It's just me and my clumsy stylus?
It's not so easy in the iPad release of the game. Lots of people have problems with doorways and stairs. Hopefully it'll be amended in a patch at some point. My advice is, zoom in close, and just keep on trying.. I found that, for me, it did get a bit easier after a while to find the right spot....
I've made a thread in the General game discussions and questions with helpful links to new players of the game, and a place to ask for and give help on the game. I've posted the links here earlier, but the post got buried very fast. If you have any tips for newbies at the game, please post them there. Go here.
I love the game, it bring back fond memories of me rerolling the character until I have gotten 90 points of stat in total. I think I have spend about 2 hours for character creation, it is like being in a toy store, there are so many ways I can create my character The game is extremely smooth and responsive in my iPad 3, the new touch interface just make the whole game feel different, and the Black Pits is really awesome if you want a quick battle with your characters. For some reasons, I couldn't see the spell description in the spellbook, but I can still remember the icons for cure light wound, and sleep.
For those looking for a good walkthough guide, I recommend this one. http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgate/bgeewalkthrough.php All the maps are there, lots of info. And for the many, many people asking about spell info... Click on the spell, hold your finger on it for two seconds, release, and pop! The same thing applies for weapons, armours and items. I also had a hard time with doorways untill I figured out you need to click near the bottom of the door (like how you click on a character's feet) to select it. Once you find the sweet spot it gets a lot easier.
which character to create/play and stats? Hi all Haven't played this in 10 years and need some advice on which character to play -- looking for a tank character that will be easier to (i.e not die all the time!) it seems like the more i read i can't go wrong with either dwarf or half orc fighter with beserker kit? and would this be a good role all the way through BG2? What are the recommended stats for these? Which one do you think is better over the long haul? The other one I am thinking about is fighter/mage or fighter/cleric -- but was unsure if this will be too hard of a character in early stages? any recommendations here?? thx
Game hurts eyes on Mini. I think I would love this game even more on the Ipad 4. I have the Mini. And even with the brightness turned all the way up, it's very hard to look at for long periods of time. Im seriously thinking of selling the Mini now for it's bigger brother. Other than this, the game is pretty much what I remember in the 90's. They honestly do need to fix the tooltip delay/showing for Spell Icons. It is extremely annoying to have to hold it down all the time. Please fix this. We must know what spell we are casting, BEFORE we cast it.
I sold my iPad 2 after 2 days because all the text was blurry all the time. People have different levels of tolerance.
No reason to settle for 2nd best if you can afford it!( I cant.lol) hmm.. so the dialogue trees were buggy for the new chars on the PC (pre patch)...how is it on the iPad? Also, has anyone tried loading their iPad saves on their desktop?
How is the difficulty? I see that the slider is a little to the left by default and I though I remeber there being a Normal, Hard, etc... setting. Is the game impossible when the slider is all the way to the right?
Personally, I think that single-class fighters are quite dull, because you'll end up directing (i.e. actually playing) the spellcasters and your thief, while fighters will do their thing mostly on auto-pilot. Also, in late BG 2 - TOB, they become less useful than spellcasters. IIRC, in terms of survivability and power cleric/ranger multi-class used to be king, since they got both cleric and druid spells and martial side from the ranger. Good hps, good attack, lots of great buffs. Easy, yet interesting character to play the whole trilogy with. Put 2 pips in hammers and 2 pips in sling at character creation, later another 2 in flails, for BG2. If you want to play a dwarf, a fighter/cleric is also very good. Personally, I also love an elven fighter/thief with 20 Dex, but it is a more fragile combination. Still very survivable if you pay a little attention, though, and much better than thieves you'll find in the trilogy. If you decide to take a single-class fighter, I say go human and make them with an eye to dualling them to cleric or mage in BG2. For this you'll need their Wis or Int to be 17. I have heard that berserker is a good kit, but never tried it myself. Finally, in BG1 ranged weapons and concentrated fire are king, for the most part. Try to give all members of your party - and your PC of course, proficiencies in ranged weapons. It will make a huge difference, particularly early on. Also, have at least 4 folks in your party when you go to Friendly Arms Inn.
